2022 Super Bowl Odds from Preseason to Conference Championships

Now that the AFC and NFC Championship matchups have been determined, we examine how the odds for the 2022 Super Bowl have changed since the Divisional Round. The Kansas City Chiefs are now the favorites, followed by the Los Angeles Rams.

Following their thrilling win over the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round, the Chiefs will now prepare to host the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs will be aiming to reach the Super Bowl for a third consecutive season as 7.5-point home favorites for Sunday.

After potentially ending Aaron Rodgers’ tenure with the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco will now face the division rival Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in the NFC Championship. The Rams opened as 3.5-point home favorites in this game. If this spread looks familiar, it should because it is the third time this season the Rams have been favored by 3.5 against the Niners. They lost outright in each of the first two meetings.

As three of the four favorites in the Divisional Round were eliminated, let’s take a look at the remaining playoff teams and their updated Super Bowl odds.

2022 Super Bowl Odds

Kansas City Chiefs

Divisional Round Matchup: -7.5 vs. Bengals

The Chiefs took advantage of Josh Allen's only mistake during their playoff matchup, calling heads for the overtime coin toss. QB Patrick Mahomes and company marched down the field, and tight end Travis Kelce scored the game-winning touchdown. The AFC Championship will be a rematch from Week 17, when the Bengals defeated the Chiefs 34-31 in the jungle. I wonder if KC will cover Ja'Marr Chase this time around.

The Chiefs were +400 to win the Super Bowl before this week. Three of the four favorites lost outright and the Chiefs defeated the Bills, which significantly altered their futures number.

Cincinnati Bengals

Preseason Odds: +15000
Divisional Round Matchup: +7.5 at Chiefs

After heading into Tennessee as four-point underdogs, the Bengals eliminated the No. 1 seed. Their previous win over the Chiefs was as 3.5-point underdogs. In the AFC title game, they are catching 7.5 and will travel to Arrowhead for the rematch.

Prior to the Divisional Round, their odds were +1500, and now they are +800 to win the Super Bowl. As with last week, they remain the longest shot.

NFC Super Bowl Odds

Los Angeles Rams

Best Super Bowl Odds: (+210 via FanDuel Sportsbook, Barstool, and PointsBet)
Preseason Odds: +1200
Divisional Round Matchup: -3.5 vs. 49ers

The Rams played on the road and dominated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers early and often. Despite an awful second-half coaching job by Sean McVay, receiver Cooper Kupp and QB Matthew Stafford saved the Rams in the final seconds. It is a matchup we have already seen before this season as NFC West division rivals will meet. Both times this season, the Rams were 3.5-point favorites and lost.

The Rams were +700 to +800 to win the Super Bowl before the divisional round. With the Packers eliminated, the Rams are now the shortest shots in the NFC to win the Lombardi Trophy.

San Francisco 49ers

Best Super Bowl Odds: (+475 via PointsBet)
Preseason Odds: +1400
Divisional Round Matchup: +3.5 at Rams

Even without an offensive touchdown, the Niners defeated the Green Bay Packers as 6-point road underdogs at Lambeau Field. It will be a familiar matchup in the NFC Championship and a favorable one for the Niners. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is 6-0 against McVay in his career since 2019. 

Following the Packers' and Buccaneers' exits and with their recent success against the Rams, the Niners' Super Bowl odds were adjusted from +1200 to +475 heading into the NFC Championship.
