2022 PGA BMW Championship Odds and Predictions

The PGA Tour is at Wilmington Country Club for the second playoff tournament. The 2022 season will conclude next weekend with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Course. Last week, Will Zalatoris captured his first PGA title with a win at TPC Southwind.

Zalatoris saved his first win for the postseason. He had come close numerous times this year and finally got through. Following a win for Zalatoris, we’ll see who has the chops for a win in Deleware. TheSportsGeek has the best BMW Championship odds at Willington Country Club.

Look at our PGA betting sites page for the top online sportsbooks for the BMW Championship.

Note that all three playoff events have a purse of $15,000,000. These certainly aren’t bad tournaments to win, and the FedEx Cup will be awarded thereafter. The BMW Championship odds board has some notable names at Wilmington Country Club.

RORY WELL OFF THE MARK
That was not a vintage Rory McIlroy performance last week. His ball striking wasn’t working, and McIlroy struggled as a result. McIlroy didn’t look interested at TPC Southwind, but he’s a player that can quickly turn his form around.

Zalatoris has going to be highly rated to go back-to-back in the first two playoff tournaments. Now that he can breathe easy after finally winning a PGA title, expect Zalatoris to play even looser, which is bad news for the rest of the field.

Head below for the latest PGA BMW Championship odds and our best predictions for the second playoff event. Keep in mind that there is no cut at the BMW Championship.

BMW Championship Betting Odds

The oddsmakers are going right back to Rory McIlroy as the favorite on the BMW Championship odds board. Anytime McIlroy is in a field he’s going to be a favorite or close it, so this doesn’t come as a surprise despite his poor effort last week.

I had some confidence in McIlroy playing much better last week. After coming so close this year for a major, is he getting exhausted in August? Golf is a mental sport, especially at this level, and McIlroy didn’t have his head at TPC Southwind.

Jon Rahm, who wasn’t regarded as a top contender last week, is back on the map as the second-favorite in the BMW Championship. He is currently listed at +1200 to win on the BMW Championship betting odds board.

The winner from last week is +1400 to win at Wilmington. Zalatoris is tied with Patrick Cantlay at +1400 this week. There might be better value out there in the BMW Championship.

BMW Championship Predictions

Tony Finau (+1600)

Tony Finau has cooled off. Kind of but not really. Finau won the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic with back-to-back wins going into the St. Jude Championship.

After coming up short at St. Andrews, Finau went to Minnesota for an impressive -17 win at TPC Twin Cities. He pulled way from Emiliano Grillo and Im Sung-Jae, who finished T2 at -14.

I say that Finau hasn’t really cooled off because he played well again last week. Finau had another good tournament to open the PGA Tour playoffs.

He was unable to win, but had another strong showing to finish T5. Finau shot a -11 to finish within striking distance of Sepp Straka and Zalatoris for a three-way playoff.

The difference for Finau has been his improvement with putting. He has always been a ball striker, but couldn’t find his form with a putter. That’s been changing recently, though.

He’s vastly cut back two-putting on the dance floor and the results are adding up to competitive efforts.

Finau is fifth on the PGA Tour in greens in regulation, so the only thing holding him back from being an every-week contender was his putter. That’s rectified and Finau is off and running. He has to be considered for the BMW Championship title.

Collin Morikawa (+2000)

Collin Morikawa has been quiet as of late, but is showing signs of getting his game back on track recently. The former No. 1 has looked much more focused recently and should like this track at Wilmington.

Morikawa is quietly picking up momentum after finishing T5 last week to open the FedEx Playoffs.

He has finished in the top-5 in two of his previous four outings. The U.S. Open was a good experience for him this year.

COMPETITIVE FIRE RETURNING
Morikawa was close at the U.S. Open to finish T5 and he followed up with the same result three tournaments later.

He had a special year in 2021, which included a win in The Open Championship. Morikawa has cooled off, but he’s finding his form late in the season in 2022. His game favors Wilmington Country Club and should be considered at +2000 or better.
