The John Deere Classic usually takes place the week before The Open Championship in the UK. If you’re accustomed to that schedule, you’ll probably be looking for The Open next weekend, but the final major of the year is in two weeks from July 14 to July 17.

TheSportsGeek has full coverage of this weekend’s PGA event, with the best John Deere Classic odds online. We’re doing our best to go through the John Deere Classic odds to find the best John Deere Classic picks.
We’re two weeks removed from the U.S. Open at Brookline. Matt Fitzpatrick won an exciting tournament over Will Zalatoris on the final hole.
I really liked Zalatoris to win that tournament, and I’ve selected Fitzpatrick often this season, except for the U.S. Open, so it was a tough one to watch Zalatoris miss a putt to force more holes.
The John Deere Classic is a smaller tournament on the PGA Tour. You are not going to find big names playing in the John Deere Classic. Adam Hadwin is looking to build on a successful run at the U.S. Open. He and Webb Simpson are the most notable names in the field.
That’s not saying much, but John Deere Classic Weekend is a bye week for many players. As a qualification event for The Open Championship, this tournament isn’t taken seriously by golfers that are locked into the major.
A fantastic rookie should be in the mix at the John Deere Classic. Sahith Theegala has flourished and shown that he can play with the big boys.
We’ll see if Theegla has the John Deere Classic betting odds to make him worth considering. Let’s get into more details about the tournament and our John Deere Classic picks below.
Where is the John Deere Classic Played?
The 2022 John Deere Classic is at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The John Deere Classic has been played at TPC Deere Run every year since 2000. The event ran from 1974 to 1999 at Oakwood Country Club until moving to Silvis.
John Deere Classic Betting Odds
This isn’t a tournament where you are going to see the big players on the PGA Tour available for wagering. I’ve gone over that this isn’t a tournament where the elite golfers come out to play, but it’s irrelevant for our purposes of betting the John Deere Classic odds.
Webb Simpson is the biggest name in the John Deere Classic and he’s getting good treatment from the oddsmakers. He is the John Deere Classic betting odds favorite in Illinois this weekend. Hadwin and Theegala follow as the next most likely to win the John Deere Classic, according to the odds at Bovada.

John Deere Classic Picks
Nick Hardy (+3300)
Nick Hardy should give it a solid go at the John Deere Classic this week. The 26-year-old is doing enough to hang around lately. He has to have plenty of confidence going into Thursday, and at these odds, Hardy is a good bet to win at TPC Deere Run.
Hardy came close at Glen Club Golf Course last month. He and Harry Hall went into a playoff, with Hall Edging Hardy out for the win in a close one. That tournament didn’t have big names, but neither does the John Deere Classic.
In any case, Hardy has shown that he can play with the top players as well. Following that performance, he played one of the best four rounds of his career at the U.S. Open.
The 26-year-old came back firing at the Travelers last week to finish T8. He finished -11 to par and was happy with the performance. In this lesser tournament, Hardy seems to be disrespected at +3300.
Denny McCarthy (+2500)
Denny McCarthy is another golfer that will likely be thrown to the wayside by most people. However, in a tournament like this, you are not going to find the familiar names at the top of the leaderboard.
McCarthy is in good shape with his putter to win at TPC Deere Run. He’s not a master off the tee, but on a track like TPC Deere Run, it’s not the most difficult course to navigate at the start of holes. Putting should play a big role in Illinois.
He’s an elite putter on the PGA Tour and consistent finishes atop putting metrics at tournaments. McCarthy is in the top-5 with a success rate of 78.9% percent on the green.
This was after a strong performance in the Memorial Tournament for McCarthy, and it’s hard to disregard McCarthy at the John Deere Classic.
He finished T5 to beat Jon Rahm by two strokes. If McCarthy brings a hot putter to TPC Deere Run, and it’s very possible, the rest of the field must look out.
Sahith Theegala (+2000)
Sahith Theegala is pointing towards the Arnold Palmer Award, which is given out to the Rookie of the Year on the PGA Tour. He is definitely a deserving suitor for the award, as Theegala continues to churn out productive work.

Theegala is 38th on the money list through 25 events. That’s quality work from a rookie on the PGA Tour. He had a big showing at the Travelers Championship. It’s becoming expected of him to have a chance on Sunday.
He finished T2 with J. T. Poston at the Travelers and -17 to par. It was the second tournament in three attempts that Theegala finished a tournament in the top-5.
Theegala was T5 with McCarthy at the Memorial on June 5. He continues to build confidence and is likely going to strike before long. In this winnable tournament in the John Deere Classic, Theegala has a big chance.
