The 150th Open Championship is in the books and we had a thriller on Sunday at St. Andrews. Cameron Smith was red-hot on the back 9 to finish -20 to par, edging out Cameron Young at -19 and Rory McIlroy at -18.

McIlroy almost couldn’t have done anything differently. He was tied for the lead going into the final day and played as best as he could on the weekend. His putter could have been nicer on Sunday, but it’s hard to be perfect.

His effort was the lowest score to par in a major at -20. In the 150-year history of golf at St. Andrews, Smith is the first golfer to fire a final round of 64. McIlroy deserved to win, but Smith deserved it more.
This post-Open Championship event comes with a purse of $7,900,000. Nearly $8 million for a tournament isn’t all that bad, but you are going to find elite players taking this week off. The travel back from Scotland to the US following a major isn’t conducive to entering the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities. There are some players making the trek to play in Minnesota, though.
Let’s get into the top 3M Open odds and find the best 3M Open picks. Despite Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Thomas not winning for us at the British Open, our matchup bets were perfect and Tiger Woods missing the cut was profitable at plus money. Head below for our 3M Open predictions.
3M Open Betting Odds
32-year-old American Tony Finau is the favorite on the 3M Open odds board this week. The native of Salt Lake City has two wins on the PGA Tour and a Korn Ferry Tour victory.
The win came over Open Championship champ, Cameron Smith. He’s been held winless since then on August 23, 2021. According to the oddsmakers at Bovada, Finau holds a decent advantage over Matsuyama and Im.
There is much better value in the 3M Open in this tournament. Chez Reavie might be a tempting offering at +3300 for his driving accuracy, but does the 40-year-old have the stamina for back-to-back PGA wins? He’s coming off a win at the Barracuda Championship at Tahoe Mountain Club.

3M Open Predictions
Cameron Tringale (+2800)
Cameron Tringale is making the trek from The Open in Scotland to Minnesota this week. He’ll be at TPC Twin Cities for the 3M Open on Thursday.
Tringale also participated in the Scottish Open a week earlier, so he’s been overseas for two weeks. The world No. 49 made the cut at St. Andrews, but fell out of contention to finish T62.
He had a better showing against a weaker field at the Scottish Open. Tringale wasn’t that far off, as he finished T6 to give him another solid showing this year.
He also finished T2 at the ZOZO Championship, T3 at the Farmers Insurance Open, T13 at the Genesis Invitational, and T12 at the RBC Heritage. Tringale’s 3M Open betting odds at +2800 make him worth a bet.
Davis Riley (+2200)
Davis Riley is a rookie on the edge of breaking into the spotlight. He’s a 25-year-old with a bright future on the PGA Tour. He has two Korn Ferry Tour wins and still searching for his first PGA Tour score.
Riley will likely win one of these tournaments with lesser talent eventually. He’s one of the most promising golfers in the 3M Open field. Without having to deal with the top-ranked players, Riley rates well at TPC Twin Cities.
The native of Mississippi has several quality performances this season. He’s finished 2nd, 5th, T9, T13, T4, T13 in six of his previous ten tournaments.
There is going to be a tournament where Riley finds his stride and goes the distance on Sunday. The 3M Open appears like a good chance for him to do that at TPC Twin Cities. There is ample value on the 2022 3M Open odds board to consider Riley.
