This is an event dating back to 1938 but changed format in 2017 to a team event. The alternate shot format of the foursome is used in rounds one and three while the easier fourball format is used in rounds two and four. These are the same formats used in the Ryder and Presidents Cup and a strong bond between the players can be of the utmost importance.

The scoring has been exceptionally low since the team event was added with twenty-five under being exceeded twice by the winning teams. The TPC Louisiana is a Pete Dye design set in wetlands on Bermuda fairways and greens.

Ryder Cup Partnership of Rose and Stenson Back to Form at Masters

Two major champions from the European Tour, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson are another pairing that catches the eye, given how well both performed at the recent Masters. Englishman, Justin Rose was prominent all week at Augusta National after taking the first round lead and here at the TPC Louisiana for many years when it was a singles event, winning in 2015.

The Swede, Henrik Stenson had appeared badly out of form before an encouraging Masters performance and his confidence should be rising. We know these two will know each other extremely well from their many Ryder Cup’s and that crucial experience of the awkward foursome format will be useful this week.
