Well, Week One was a doozy. From seeing that “The Plant Man” literally might be immortal, to worrying about Awesome Excellent and Derrick Henry’s usage, to mourning the constant injury-ridden San Francisco 49ers, NFL Week One took us on a ride. Thank goodness we have Andy, Mike, and Jason here to break it down and build us back up. Here are the highlights from the Week 2 podcast.
Monday- Week 1 Quick Reactions, Monday Punday, Week 1 Studs & Duds
As Andy said it, welcome to the glass cage of emotion. After bringing it in for some much-needed three-second hugs from Jason, our hosts jumped in to try to dissect the complicated woven tapestry that was Week 1. After reminding us to head to jointhefoot.com and join the best fantasy community in the biz, they got sophisticated with Monday Punday. Moving on. Tons to talk about in News. Starting with the abundance of news coming out of San Francisco, our Ballers discussed Trey Sermon’s “healthy” scratch, Raheem Mostert’s (anticipated?) injury, and the lack of Brandon Aiyuk. Confusion abounds. A few other bad injuries, including Jerry Jeudy and Ryan Fitzpatrick, were discussed, and we moved on to Week One Studs and Duds. Sifting through these players to separate the flash in the pan performances and those who have the strength to go long term. There were some great QB performances – Kyler, Jameis, Jalen Hurts, Tom Brady, and more. RB wise, we were looking at Christian McCaffrey sans TD, Joe Mixon, and Nick Chubb. The two Detroit RBs were also discussed, and David Montgomery’s potent performance was celebrated. The guys moved on to WRs, three of which were starts of the week. TE wise, there were some great performances as well. The much anticipated pooped in their big boy pants segment is back! Aaron Rodgers is headlined here. Then some big RB names came up – Saquon, Zeke, and Aaron Jones. They followed with several WRs and TEs.
Tuesday- MNF Recap, Mike’s Story, Where There’s Smoke, Waivers & Streamers
After a tremendous Monday night matchup, our Ballers come into the Tuesday podcast with much to discuss. Mike’s intense Monday night tilt was addressed as the guys jumped right into analyzing the Vegas/Baltimore game. We learned that Ty’son Williams and Latavius Murray look to be both start-able RB2s moving forward. On to Where There’s Smoke! Mark Ingram, Christian Kirk, and DJ Chark were all addressed in this segment. After this, Andy, Mike, and Jason moved on to News with Raheem Mostert’s injury opening the segment. Ryan Fitzpatrick will join Mostert on IR this season, and we can say farewell to most, if any, Fitzmagic in 2021.
With News wrapped, we move to the ever-important Waiver segment – the Ballers will reference both open waiver leagues and FAAB waiver leagues when discussing possible pick-ups. Marquez Callaway is a potential drop candidate, while the guys say to hold on to Brandon Aiyuk. Look to pick up Mike Williams if he is indeed available. Sterling Shepard, Nelson Agholor, and Emmanuel Sanders are also people to target after waivers run to avoid burning your priority. On to the RBs – this is the position where Jason suggests using your waiver priority or FAAB budget. Big targets here were Elijah Mitchell, Latavius Murray, and Nyheim Hines. The Streamers of the Week end the episode – Andy suggests streaming Jameis Winston, Jason says Big Ben, and Mike calls his shot with Teddy Bridgewater.
Wednesday- Buy/Sell, Mailbag, Barkley or Mitchell, Player Drop Strategy, League Trading, Thursday Night Breakdown
We are halfway through the week, and after Mike drives up the cost of Elijah Mitchell for Andy several times, our Ballers jump right into Buy/Sell. Last week the guys went two out of three. This week’s Buy/Sell is a bounce-back edition, including Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Ridley, and Allen Robinson props. Next comes News, which is led with the Raheem Mostert out for the season news. The Niners followed that news with the announcement that no one needed to hear – Kerryon Johnson is signed to the practice squad. Seahawks Rashad Penny is battling an injury, and “apparently” Ronald Jones will start this week. In Covid news, five New Orleans coaches and Michael Thomas have gone on the Covid-IR. Now to open the Mailbag. The main question addressed was Saquon Barkley or Elijah Mitchell this week, with our Ballers mostly landing on the Mitchell side, especially with Barkley playing on Thursday this week. Player drop strategy was also brought up. When constructing a complicated waiver tree of thought (patent pending Jason term), you do not want to drop your players early as it gives you more flexibility. Build your waivers off the drop, Jason suggests. Some Michael Thomas, Ryan Tannehill, and Will Fuller chat closes up the Mailbag. On to a potentially grim Thursday Night Breakdown of the Giants against the Washington Football Team – the game this week with the lowest over/under. If you can avoid it, try not to start anyone in this matchup. Adjust your expectations for Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin.

Thursday- Never Not Working, Week 2 Matchups, Starts of the Week, Boom Boom Kicker
Even with a less than exciting Thursday matchup of The Giants and The Football Team, it is still football time! A lot of Saquon Barkley chat started off the show, and then Andy, Mike, and Jason headed right into the Never Not Working segment. This week it centered on late-week waiver wire pick-ups. The guys remind us to look at the players dropped by other owners and see if you can take advantage – drop it like it’s hot. It was suggested to keep an eye out for Marquez Calloway, Cedric Wilson, and Alex Collins. On to News and Notes. After touching on some injury news with OBJ and Josh Jacobs, the guys ponder whether or not owners can fire up Will Fuller in his first week back. Now on to Fantasy Forecast. Six games were broken down today, with some great matchups on the table for Browns and Rams players especially. When the Niners travel to Philadelphia, we should learn what is real with the Eagles this season. Starts of the week came next, and the show ended with Jason’s much-lauded Boom-Boom Kicker of the week.
Friday – Footclan Friday, Thursday Night Recap, More Week 2 Matchups, Fantasy Faceoff & Wheel of Shame
It’s Footclan Friday! Andy, Mike, and Jason started off quickly with their Thursday Night Breakdown. Lot’s to discuss here with a somewhat concerning Antonio Gibson performance, the snap goblin Smooches, and Scary Terry over on the Washington side of the ball. Giants wise Sterling Shepard, Daniel Jones‘ arm, and Saquon Barkley‘s inconsistent game were chatted about. If you believe in Barkley he might still be a buy-low candidate for you. Here comes the News – Josh Jacobs is still out. Make sure to check in with Matthew Betz our injury expert to get the most up-to-date info as we get closer to game time. Will Fuller will now be out Week 2 due to a personal issue, and D’Andre Swift and Jonnu Smith were also mentioned during the injury chat. Into the Fantasy Forecast – 6 games were covered yesterday, with 9 games left to talk about on today’s show. A couple of players to keep your eyes on from these games – Jameis Winston, DJ Moore, KJ Hamler, Christian Kirk, and more. Andy’s almost upset of the week is the Cowboys at the Chargers, with the Cowboys coming into Los Angeles ready to play. Light up most everyone in this game. Expect a bounce-back game for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers against the Detroit Lions this week. The next installment of Fantasy Faceoff follows the matchups. By losing the matchup last week Andy gets the inaugural spin on the Wheel of Shame. Good luck this week!
