The Utah Jazz just added legitimate firepower to a bench unit that already boasts reigning Sixth Man of the Year, Jordan Clarkson and fellow 6MOY finalist Joe Ingles.
According to multiple reports, veteran forward Rudy Gay has agreed to a two-year deal with the Jazz in his pursuit to remain on a championship-contender late in his career.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Gay’s deal is $12.1 million contract that includes a player option for the second season.
Gay will be 35-years-old at the start of the 2021-22 season but his age is the least important number, as he averaged 11.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game with the San Antonio Spurs last season while boasting a career scoring average of 16.8 points per game.
Following his move to Utah, Gay will now be suiting up for his fifth NBA team in 15 years, having previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings and Spurs over that time.
In 2020-21, the Jazz amassed an impressive 52-20 record—the best in the revered Western Conference—before being bounced in the second round by the Los Angeles Clippers.
