REPORT: De’Aaron Fox Could Be A Central Piece in Kings Trade Talks

Sacramento King’s point guard De’Aaron Fox may be the central piece in a trade if the Kings want to make a move before the league’s February 10th tradeline.

According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, Kings general manager Monte McNair’s decision to select two-point guards in the previous drafts, Tyrese Haliburton in 2020 and Davion Mitchell in 2021, may point to the Kings thinking about moving on from Fox.

The Kings were also mentioned as a trade partner with the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, despite the King’s three-guard rotation being deemed unavailable. Shooting guard Buddy Hield has been brought in trade rumors.

Fox has been tremendous during his time with the Sacramento Kings; in just five seasons, the Kentucky product has averaged 18.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, becoming a driving force behind their 39-43 record in the 2018-2019 season, their best in recent years. Fox is down in the scoring and passing department in year five, averaging 20.1 points and 5.5 assists per game. The figures are his lowest since the 2018-2019 campaign.
