Peyton, Eli Manning to Launch Alternate ESPN Monday Night Football Broadcast

ESPN is adding to its Monday Night Football programming with an alternate telecast featuring Peyton and Eli Manning.

So, what exactly does this mean?

Well, first, the current ESPN MNF broadcast team of Steve Levy, Brian Griese, Louis Riddick, Lisa Salters and John Parry isn’t going anywhere.

The Manning-led alternate broadcast will air as a supplemental option on ESPN2 and ESPN’s streaming services for 10 games over each of the next three seasons.

No host has been named, but the plan is to have a mix of former and current players, along with celebrities, join the Manning brothers for this remote broadcast. ESPN will team up with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions to air the telecast.

I don’t know. Sounds cool, I guess.

For years, people have speculated about how good Peyton Manning would be in a broadcast booth. Granted, he won’t star in a traditional analyst role like a Troy Aikman or Tony Romo, but we’ll get a look into what both he and his brother bring as a live game unfolds.

I enjoy Peyton’s Places, which occasionally airs on ESPN but is housed on ESPN+. If nothing else, the brothers have good chemistry and typically do a nice job in commercial spots and television appearances, so I’ll give it a shot.
