We are only one week past the ending of a great college football season. Alabama beat Ohio State in resounding fashion. Which teams have the best NCAAF odds for next season? What are the best sportsbook to use?
It’s never too early to look ahead to the next season. With players declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft, rosters are close to being finalized already. We are seeing stars leave on the best teams as always. Alabama is having to replace their six best players on offense and the best corner in college football. Clemson will be without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, and Justin Fields is done at Ohio State.
The best teams in the country will have to reload, but they all keep their head coaches. As always, blue-blood programs are leading the way in recruiting. They’ll be ready for 2021, but which team will have the best chance of winning it all?
Let’s take a look at some of the top teams and their odds to win the CFP National Championship, courtesy of BetOnline Sportsbook (visit our BetOnline Review)
Alabama (+350)
The Crimson Tide are the favorites to win the title again despite losing so much talent. Alabama has only repeated once during the Nick Saban era, but they will try to do so again with a revamped roster.
Alabama will be without Mac Jones, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, Alex Leatherwood and Landon Dickerson on offense. Defensively, they are losing Christian Barmore, Dylan Moses and Patrick Surtain. Thankfully, most of the defense is returning. Players like Josh Jobe, Christian Harris and Will Anderson will be ready to step up at each level of the defense.
Alabama has also lost every offensive assistant on the coaching staff. Bill O’Brien will be replacing Steve Sarkisian, but keep an eye on the rest of Saban’s staff. They will be in charge of preparing Bryce Young to be the face of Alabama football. Thankfully, they will be working with John Metchie at receiver and the deepest running back group in college football.
Alabama has the talent and experience to repeat. While they would be my favorites for my NCAAF picks, the (+350) odds aren’t great unless you are confident in the staff that Saban hires.
Clemson (+400)
Clemson is losing their star quarterback and running back, but they are returning every starter on defense. As always, Dabo Swinney’s staff remains intact.
The Tigers will be ushering in a new era at quarterback with DJ Uiagalelei. He started for the Tigers while Lawrence was out with COVID-19, and he played well during that time. We’ll see what he can do as the new quarterback in Clemson.
Swinney and the Tigers will face off against the Georgia Bulldogs early in the season. This will be the closest you can get to a must-win game for both sides this early in the year. Georgia is also listed at (+400) to win the championship, and they will be returning their starting quarterback in JT Daniels.
When you take Clemson (+400), you are assuming that they will beat the Bulldogs at home. That is tough to assume, but it adds value to this pick if it happens. After Georgia, the rest of their regular-season schedule is a breeze. Once they make it to the College Football Playoff, anything can happen.
Oklahoma (+800)
This is the best value out there. Oklahoma still hasn’t won a College Football Playoff game under Lincoln Riley, but things might be different in 2021. Their only true test will be at home against Iowa State. Texas will be ushering in a new head coach and quarterback, so they remain a question mark.
Also, Spencer Rattler returns at quarterback. He struggled at first this year, but he found his way as the season progressed. This is the first time Lincoln Riley has had stability at quarterback since taking over the program. This is Rattler’s third year in Norman and his second year as a starter. If Oklahoma can’t win it all now, they never will.
I would still put teams like Alabama and Clemson ahead of Oklahoma. However, the value at (+800) is great. They have one of the easiest paths to make it to the College Football Playoff, and they might have enough on offense to win it all if they get there. Rattler will be a Heisman favorite, and Riley will remain one of the best offensive minds in college football.
