NFL Picks December 26: Vikings Battle Rams to Stay in Playoff Race

The NFL regular season is down to the final three weeks with numerous playoff spots still up for grabs. There is a full slate of games scheduled with the Rams and Vikings headlining the action.

Los Angeles Rams versus Minnesota Vikings

The Rams come in 2nd in the NFC West and the Vikings are 2nd in the NFC North. Los Angeles is a 3.5-point road favorite with odds of 1.62 to 2.276 and an over/under of 49.5. Both teams are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Rams have a +28 to +9 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The teams have been trending mainly in games “under” the line, while the Score Predictor has the Rams winning by a 34-21 score with 41 percent confidence. I like the Rams to win and cover in a game “under” the line.

Baltimore Ravens versus Cincinnati Bengals

The teams are deadlocked on top of the AFC North. Baltimore has a +21 to +15 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while Cincinnati is “average” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Bengals are a 1.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.64 to 2.23 with an over/under of 45.5. The Score Predictor has the Bengals winning by a 27-17 score with 52 percent confidence, which easily covers the spread. The Totals Predictor shows the teams are trending in games on opposite sides of the line.  I like the Bengals to win in a closer game than the Score Predictor, but still enough to cover.

Pittsburgh Steelers versus Kansas City Chiefs

The Steelers look to keep pace in the AFC North while the Chiefs are riding a seven-game winning streak. Kansas City is a 7.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.26 to 3.76 and an over/under of 44.5. The Score Predictor sees the Chiefs winning and covering with a score of 33-20 with 65 percent confidence. Kansas City has a +28 to +16 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Kansas City is the more stable team at +6 to 0 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. There is little to indicate that the Steelers can stay with the Chiefs for an entire game. Kansas City will win and cover.

Denver Broncos versus Las Vegas Raiders

In this AFC West battle, both teams enter at 7-7. Denver has a +18 to +8 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” status versus “ice cold up”. The Broncos are a 1.5-point road favorite with an over/under at 41.5. The Score Predictor has Denver by the score of 23-15 with 46 percent confidence. The teams have been trending in games “under” the line, which is a smart bet in this game. Note that neither team has been extremely stable, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like a more defensive-oriented game. Go with the Broncos in a road upset, winning by a field goal.

Miami Dolphins versus New Orleans Saints

Winners of their last six, the Dolphins sit at 7-7 on the season. They enter the game “burning hot” and +17 on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Saints are “average up” after winning their last two and +7. New Orleans enters as a 3.5-point home favorite with odds of 1.59 to 2.352 and an over/under of 38.5 The Score Predictor has a game that crushes the line at 27-23 in favor of the Saints. Be aware of the fact that the Saints have been very inconsistent with regards to performing according to their favorite/underdog status. I like the Dolphins in an upset, betting “over” the line.
