MLB Picks June 20: Mets and Nationals Battle in NL East

As the MLB season inches towards the All-Star break, there are important match-ups in store in every division in both leagues. Let’s run down some of the action for Sunday, June 20.

New York Mets versus Washington Nationals

Two NL East teams battle with Taijuan Walker scheduled to pitch for the Mets and Patrick Corbin set to take the mound for the Nationals. The Nationals have a +24 to +23 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Walker is 6-2 with a 2.12 ERA and Corbin is 4-5 with a 5.60 ERA. Walker has been a great get at +2737 dollars on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator versus -193 for Corbin. The Totals Predictor suggests betting “under” based on the trends. The Scores Predictor has a 5-4 edge for the Nationals with 51 percent confidence. I’m leaning in the other direction towards the Mets in a road upset.

Los Angeles Dodgers versus Arizona Diamondbacks

In the NL West, the Dodgers had to face the Diamondbacks with Tony Gonsolin taking the mound and the Diamondbacks are undecided. Gonsolin has a 3.38 ERA but has been a relatively poor bet at -220 dollars on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Dodgers have a +21 to +1 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. It’s best to avoid the “over/under” since the teams have been trending on opposite sides of the line. The Score Predictor likes the Dodgers by an 8-3 score with 84 percent confidence. Go with the Dodgers to win and cover.

Oakland Athletics versus New York Yankees

AL West meets AL East in this battle between two teams that are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Oakland has a +29 to +22 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and plans to send Sean Manaea to the mound. He is 6-2 with a 2.99 ERA and +447 dollars on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator.  The Yankees have yet to name their starter for the final game in this series.  The Totals Predictor shows that it’s best to avoid the “over/under” and the Scores Predictor has the Athletics by a 5-3 score with 51 percent confidence.  Go with Oakland in a tight game and check the line before betting.

Boston Red Sox versus Kansas City Royals

These two teams are heading in opposite directions. The Red Sox are “burning hot” and +29 on the Power Ranking Indicator and the Royals are “dead” and +3. Nathan Eovaldi is set to pitch for the Red Sox and Brad Keller will take the mound for the Royals. Eovaldi is 7-3 with a 3.76 ERA and Keller is 6-6 with a 6.14 ERA. Maybe a bit of a surprise that Keller has been a better bet at +482 dollars versus -35 for Eovaldi. Expect a high-scoring game according to the Totals Predictor. Although with only 43 percent confidence, the Scores Predictor also indicates many runs on the board in a 10-6 win for the Red Sox. Go with the Red Sox to win and cover.

St. Louis Cardinals versus Atlanta Braves

NL Central meets NL East in this battle. The Cardinals head to Atlanta “average down” versus “ice cold up” and a +19 versus +4 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Kwang Hyun Kim is scheduled to pitch for the Cardinals and the Braves have yet to name their starter. Kim is 1-4 with a 3.72 ERA, but an impressive +718 dollars on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Braves have yet to name their starter. The Braves are given a 6-5 edge on the Scores Predictor with a confidence of 56 percent,  I would wait to see the line and who the Braves start before placing a bet, but as of now am leaning towards the Braves at home.
