Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, seven-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge plans to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
The veteran center is averaging 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this season, while shooting .464 percent from the field and .330 percent from 3-point range.
Aldridge reached a buyout agreement with the San Antonio Spurs shortly after the trade deadline, giving back $7.25 million dollars while being due $24 million, with the Portland Trail Blazers and Miami Heat among the teams favored to sign him in free agency.
A highly skilled and experienced big man with experience carrying a franchise as star player with the Blazers and as core piece of the Spurs’ roster, the Nets are making arguably be the biggest move that any contender has this week.
With centers DeAndre Jordan and Nicolas Claxton are receiving significant rotation minutes, Aldridge (and recently signed forward Blake Griffin) will give Brooklyn a deep and versatile frontcourt that can matchup well against virtually any team.
