Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Serie A title hopes could be ended by bogey team Atalanta who have Chelsea transfer target he embarrassed and goal rival Luis Muriel

Juventus are 12 points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan and defeat to Atalanta might just be the final nail in the coffin for Cristiano Ronaldo an co’s hopes of retaining the title.

A run of nine consecutive Scudetto’s will come to an end – and it probably won’t even be close as Antonio Conte and his Premier League rejects romp home.

A Champions League last-16 exit had already made it a rough campaign for Juve in Andrea Pirlo’s first as the club’s head coach.

Atalanta have more reasons than most to go and defeat the Old Lady and condemn them to another awful weekend in Italy.

Sat just one point behind the Turin outfit and trying to fend off Napoli in the race for Champions League qualification, the boys from Bergamo need a win just as much as Juventus.

Good job they are Ronaldo’s bogey team then!

The stars are aligning for another frustrating afternoon as the Portuguese superstar hasn’t been able to beat La Dea in five attempts, and won’t be able to face them on Sunday due to a thigh injury.

Four draws and one defeat, in the 2018/19 Coppa Italia, will be downright irritating for the 36-year-old and he won’t be able to help them on the pitch today either.

He might have scored three goals over the course of these fixtures with Atalanta but he also missed a penalty in their 1-1 draw back in December.

And one of his opponents has a special reason to ensure Ronaldo and Juve don’t get all three points on Sunday.

Robin Gosens was linked with Chelsea last summer but remained in Bergamo and at left wing-back is one of the best players in the division.

He’s got nine goals and five assists this season but there is one thing he didn’t manage to get – Ronaldo’s shirt.

“After the final whistle, I went to him, I didn’t even go to the audience to celebrate… but Ronaldo didn’t accept,” Gosens revealed in his autobiography ‘It’s Worth Dreaming’.

“I asked him: ‘Cristiano, can I have your shirt?’

“He didn’t even look ad me, he just said: ‘No’. I was completely blushed and ashamed. I went away and I felt small. You know that moment when something embarrassing happens and you look around to see if anyone has noticed it? That’s how I felt, and I tried to hide it.”

Luckily, his teammates were there for him, buying a replica shirt so he didn’t feel too left out in the end, while we will ignore that the 26-year-old already has an autobiography.

Ronaldo also has another foe on his hands – Luis Muriel.

Ronaldo may be top scorer in Serie A with 25 goals, and set to win his first Capocannoniere ahead of Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku, but Muriel is a more devastating finisher.

With 18 Serie A goals in just 1088 minutes of football (about 12.1 full 90 minute games), compared Ronaldo’s 25 in 2283 minutes (around 25.4 full 90s, Muriel is in outrageous form.

He’s averaging 1.49 goals per 90 – the best in Serie A, understandably, while he’s coming out on top in various other metrics too.

Whether he starts or comes off the bench, as he has done 15 times this season, the Colombian could well be the man to ruin Ronaldo’s day and send them down to fourth in the table too.
