Houston Rockets rookie guard Jalen Green held his first JG4 basketball camp this past Saturday in his hometown of Fresno, California.
Hundreds of kids ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8 were in attendance at the camp, which was held at Clovis North. They got the chance to learn basketball skills and were gifted with adidas apparel.
“It means a lot to come out here and give back to the community,” Green told Your Central Valley News.com. “I know there’s a lot of basketball fans in Fresno, I know they look up to me, so it just feels good to come back and give back.”
Fellow Rockets teammate Josh Christopher was also in attendance at Green’s camp.
“Growing up I lived in a small desert in Lancaster, almost just like this [Fresno],” Christopher explained to Central Valley News. “I’m one of these kids too, just a little bit older.”
Jalen Green played for San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno before transferring to Prolific Prep. He then signed with the G League Ignite and averaged 17.9 points per game, to go along with 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season.
Both Green and Christopher are set to make their NBA regular season debut for the Houston Rockets this season, as the Rockets take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, October 20th.
