We head to Red Bulls stomping ground in Austria this weekend, were they will hope to dominate Hamilton and company yet again. Will the Mercedes have an answer to the problem this weekend?
Formula 1 Styrian GP
Sunday, June 27, 2021 – 9:00 AM EST at Red Bull Ring
Race Preview
We cashed our Best Bet last time out at racing odds of +110 with BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review). We won in very easy fashion as we predicted over 17.5 classified drivers, there was no sweat involved as we witnessed every single driver finish the race.
Max Verstappen showed Lewis Hamilton and company last time out in France that they mean business this season as he chased down the silver arrows and overtook Hamilton with less than three laps to go, to eventually win the race and go 12 points clear at the top of the drivers’ championship.
The Red Bulls essentially played the same trick on Mercedes that Mercedes played on them in the Catalunya GP. They turned a one-pit stop race into a two-pit stop race for themselves and were able to go flat out for the whole race, not having to conserve their tyre life. Elsewhere the French race was relatively quiet, not much action happened according to betting sites, Sergio Perez chased down Hamilton’s teammate, Valtteri Bottas to pick up his second podium in a row, for the first time in his F1 career.
Red Bull are looking to achieve their first hat trick of three race wins in a row since 2013, Sebastian Vettel was world champions that year and he won nine races in a row for the Red Bulls. The team has struggled since the turbo era began in 2014, it’s taken them seven long years to get back on top, or level top for the time being.
Back to Back Races
For anybody new to F1 or unfamiliar with why this is called the Styrian Grand Prix, essentially this is a back to back race weekend, both races are being held at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Although both are pretty much the same race, F1 is required to have different race names on the Calendar. Styria is the name of the province that the Red Bull ring is located in. Last season we also had back to back races in Austria. We were only due to having one this year until Turkey had to pull out of hosting their race, hence the reason we now go back to back in Austria for a second year in a row. This isn’t a bad thing because both races here last season were relatively enjoyable.

Official Prop Bet
We are going to go back to the well with our prop play this weekend, we believe there to be some solid value in taking the over 16.5 classified drivers at odds of -115. As discussed last week, there has been an average of only 1.6 nonclassified drivers this season, which is the lowest I can recall for some time. The reason we are getting a whole extra point this week is mostly due to the fact there was a total of 13 DNFs in the two Austrian races last season, but we must stick to the trend right now, not a single F1 race this season has seen under 16.5 classified drivers.

Official Best Bet
There is much to be anticipated ahead of the back to back races at the Red Bull ring, most notably will Verstappen be able to achieve his first back to back race wins of the season. Red Bull are racing in their home track essentially and have a good history here as Verstappen has won both in 2018 and 2019. This circuit is split into two halves essentially, the first half requires power and speed, whilst the second favors a more aerodynamic setup, but not too much. This season Red Bull have shown us their straight line speed, we expect this to be another tight race but think that Verstappen and company can maximize their car’s potential around this track and pick up another race win.
