It’s happening! Six Invitational’s schedule has finally been confirmed! The prestigious Rainbow Six event starts on May 11th in Paris and aims to deliver two weeks of LAN action in Rainbow Six. Heck, not only LAN but international R6 action too! You see, this is the first proper international LAN event since early 2020. As such, it has a special charm!
However, nothing about this event will be straightforward for those thirsty for some Rainbow Six betting action! That’s because we don’t really know how these teams will fare against each other. The group stage ought to pack plenty of surprises since we have no idea just how powerful each region is.
Six Invitational May | Finally Happening
The Six Invitational 2021 was supposed to kick off in February! The location was Paris; everything had been set for a proper spectacle until France decided to install travel restrictions. There was nothing Ubisoft could do – the event had to be rescheduled.
Here we are now, just four days before the first opening-round matches… and opportunities for betting on Six Invitational May are everywhere.
Betting on Six Invitational May | Key Facts
If you’re here for that exact reason, buckle up and enjoy the show as we go through the event’s key facts and its most notable participants!
When and Where?
You can start betting on Six Invitational May right away. Betting options on the first round of matches have been available for a few days now. The event starts next Tuesday (May 11th) and will last through Sunday, May 23rd.
It’s a gorgeous, but relatively small venue. But, I guess there’s no need for anything massive since there will be no live audience present. Ensuring the health and safety of all eighteen competing teams is on top of Ubisoft’s priority list, that’s for sure!
Tournament Format
Six Invitational May 2021 kicks off with a group stage featuring two groups. Group A has ten teams, group B has nine teams. Update, Virtus.pro might be out of the competition so group B might have just eight teams. More on VP’s newest issues down below.
However, take everything with a grain of salt because the news surrounding VP could prompt format alterations. As things stand now, Group A has ten and Group B just eight teams. If the format remains unchanged, all remaining teams would advance to the playoffs…
- Group A will go from top eight to top nine qualifying for the playoffs!
- Group B will go from top eight to top seven qualifying for the playoffs!
Outright Winner Betting Odds
Unfortunately, not a single esports bookmaker features outright winner odds for betting on Six Invitational May. As stated in the intro, it’s just too difficult to call this event when we haven’t seen LAN international clashes in quite a while.
A similar thing happened in CSGO esports last year. The industry had gone through series and series of online regional events and, once NA teams traveled to the EU, no one knew how well NA teams would perform.
Virtus.pro Can’t Compete
Hot off the press. Just a few minutes ago, Rainbow Six Esports tweeted an update regarding Virtus.pro’s participation in the upcoming Invitational. Unfortunately, two of Virtus.pro players tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, Virtus, pro cannot compete. They will, however, get 1% of the total prize money, just like Wildcard Gaming.

Most Notable Teams
No one really knows how these teams will perform at this event. How come? Well, we haven’t had any proper international LAN events in quite a while.
Still, we’ve had plenty of competitive action across all four main regions. That said, here are the most notable contenders; teams you should keep in mind if you’re betting on Six Invitational next week.
BDS Esport
Even though NaVi finished first in the European League 2021 Stage 1, BDS has every right to consider themselves the best of what Europe has to offer in this contest. After all, NaVi aren’t in the mix here!
Well, Shaiiko and Renshiro need to give their 120% if they want to help their team reach the upper bracket playoffs here. Cloud9, Team Empire, and Team Liquid will be mighty contenders. One slip up and BDS might find themselves in an uphill struggle. From the looks of things, group A will be interesting af!
TSM
Team SoloMid are still the number one team in North America. Merc and the boys in black did underperform on NAL 2021 Season Stage 1, but that doesn’t make them any less scary coming into this one. We all know how versatile they are, we know they can duel with the very best teams out there…
Six Invitational May has a forgiving group stage, but TSM could still end up in trouble should they fail to finish in the top four… though such a scenario isn’t that likely to happen.
Team Empire
Next up, Team Empire! The Russians are the number one team in Europe right now. How likely are they to justify that flattering title on Six Invitational May? Well, they are the heavy favorites in group A alongside BDS Esport.
I for one think they’re going to conquer this one. I’m not saying you should base your entire Six Invitational May betting campaign on them, but you shouldn’t avoid them either! Pick your battles, look for value – I’m sure Team Empire will provide!
Giants Gaming
Giants Gaming had a blast last year. They won APAC North 2020 Stage 1, APAC League 2020 North Division, APAC North 2020 Stage 2, and Six November Major APAC North. However, they also suffered through two disheartening defeats to Cloud9 in grand finals of big events.
Even though they’re still labeled as the team to beat in APAC region, Giants Gaming aren’t in the best of forms. They have just three wins in their last eight appearances and could face serious problems on Six Invitational May if they don’t mix things up a bit.
Cloud9
Cloud9 have just two defeats in their last ten matches. But, those two defeats happened in their last two matches; against SGA and Elevate. That said, Cloud9 might not be in the best shape coming into this event.
C9’s in-game leader is not only on top of the strategic elements of his game, but he doesn’t shy away from cleaning the territory either! When he’s having a bad day, C9 struggles. Fingers crossed he gets his A-game rolling next week!
Team Liquid
Last but not least, Team Liquid. What sort of a closer look would this be without a single Brazilian team in the mix, right? Paluh and the boys conquered Copa Elite Six Season 2021 Stage 1 by defeating MIBR in the grand finals. It was another fine display by Paluh who finished the match with 41 kills and just 18 deaths. It was also a sweet revenge for the Brasileirao 2020 Finals last November.
Well, we can’t say for sure, but they’ll definitely be a tough team to beat in group A. They are opening the event against Team Empire, a match that’ll tell us a great deal about the strength of LATAM and EU regions.
