Does Colby Covington Have Any Betting Value at (+230) in His Rematch with Kamaru Usman?

I know you guys remember the first fight between the clear-cut two best UFC Welterweights on the roster. It was a fight for the ages that was tied up at 2 rounds apiece heading into the 5th and final round.

Then came the separation of the world champion and future legend status of Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, who is incredible, but man, levels.

Kamaru broke Colby’s jaw late in the 4th round or early in the 5th. What a fitting way for him to put him away. We all know Colby’s whole schtick was his big mouth and the whole make America great again thing.

Cool story, bro. I would like my country to be great again as well but to me, it isn’t about the politics. However, we won’t go into that right now.

Colby Covington is a great athlete and one of the best mixed martial artists on the planet but he eventually got decimated and left for dead by a stronger man that night, Kamaru The Nigerian Nightmare Usman.

Kam opened and closed as a 2 to 1 favorite for their first meeting back in December 2019 at UFC 245. CC showed us, though, that the line was off and the fight played out much closer than the 2 to 1 betting odds suggested.

Let’s take a look at where the current betting odds provided by BetOnline.AG are at for the rematch coming up on November 6th at UFC 268 and see if a bet on the underdog, Colby Covington is worth your money.

Kamaru Usman (-280) vs Colby Covington (+230)

Kam is another animal now! Ever since he shifted his training camp to Colorado under the tutelage of one of my favorite mixed martial arts coaches, Trevor Wittman, Kam has leveled up what feels like twice, honestly.

His striking, particularly his pugilism, has hit another level and this was after he broke the jaw of the big mouth from Oregon right after Colb got his heart broken from the election results back in December of 2019.

What has happened since that fight is even more interesting to me than how that epic contest played out. 2-2 going into the 5th and with both men having dug so deep, showing so much heart and skill, one man persevered even more than that and the rest is history.

I could watch that 5th round play out a million times. That is what this sport is all about.

So, what has Kam been up to since then?

Oh, I don’t know. He fought Jorge Masvidal not once but twice and smoked him both times. What made those wins so special is that the first time around, Kam played it safe and grinded out a win mostly in the clinch and won with control much more than he did with damage.

That is the smart game plan against such a dangerous and game striker like Street Jesus. Jorge complained about it and demanded a rematch where he had a full camp and pushed Usman to stand and trade with him the second time around.

My father always told me to be careful what I wish for because I might just get it. Well, Jorge was separated from his consciousness that night and may never be the same.

Kamaru didn’t stop there, though. He fought the uber dangerous Gilbert Burns who was a former training partner and knew the game of the Nigerian Nightmare better than any other opponent ever has.

Gil popped him early but Kam quickly rebounded and put away the super talented and skilled Brazilian shortly after. Usman has clearly improved as a mixed martial artist mentally, physically, and emotionally but what about Colb?

I know IG is still IG and at the highest level, it is that much more important for these guys to keep their training as privado es posible. Looking at Colby’s IG, though, I see photos with models or pornstars with a few energy drink promos thrown in there. Quite American of him haha.

Kamaru, though, continues his journey to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Here, you can see him getting in some work with the Lima brothers and working his kicking game, something we haven’t seen much from him.

I don’t think he needs to but I didn’t think he needed to knock people out to beat them either and he is doing it anyway.

To answer the question of “Does Colby stand a chance in this fight?” Yes, sure he does but anyone who bets against Kamaru Usman at this point and honestly trying to make money is a fool.

I know for some, that is a very harsh word but even better. It doesn’t really matter to me what Colby Covington did, does, or will do. I am not betting against The Nigerian Nightmare.

In Conclusion

These are my ramblings for the day. We got a little bit serious with the political talk, but what can I say, I care too. I try to not let it go overboard and impact other aspects of my thoughts, however, what can ya do.

Communication is a tricky thing these days, and it seems like the MMA world has become a focal point for many of these discussions. That is because many of these discussions are pushed under the rug and never get handled. This is especially true for Americans, who could really use a dose of reality at times. However, I digress, getting into the political banter once again.

Moral of the story: Do not, under any circumstances, bet against Kamaru Usman!
