Jordon Ibe has revealed he is suffering with depression.
The 25-year-old former Liverpool academy player has made one appearance since joining Derby on a free transfer from Bournemouth last September.
On an Instagram Story, Ibe wrote: “I want to apologise to all my fans around the world.
”I’ve find [sic] myself in a dark place, due to suffering with depression.
“It’s no scheme for the media or to have my name in your mouths, I just find things hard truly.
“I appreciate all the love and messages from everyone.
“Times are hard in general due to this pandemic. I have the full support from my family and Derby County Football Club.
“I will fix myself and this situation, which I’m 100 per cent committed to. Not only for my family, close friend or my daughter but for me.”
Ibe came through the ranks at Liverpool, before completing a £15million move to Bournemouth in 2016.
However, his Cherries career was marred by off-field incidents, which included a driving ban for crashing his car into a coffee shop last year.
Earlier this week, Derby boss Wayne Rooney announced Ibe was set to return to training following the conclusion of an internal disciplinary investigation.
“Yes, that has ended,” said the Rams manager. “Obviously that is something we will keep in-house,
“He has obviously missed a lot of training.
“We will put a schedule together for him to get back up to speed and then we will take it from there once he gets himself back fit and ready to train with the team.”
