‘Come to Chelsea’ trends as Erling Haaland scores wonder goal for Borussia Dortmund, while Jadon Sancho breaks Bundesliga goal record in win against Schalke

It was the Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho show for as Borussia Dortmund thrashed rivals Schalke 4-0 in the Bundesliga.

Earlier in the week, Haaland took plenty of plaudits for his midweek Champions League performance where he scored twice, and recorded an assist in a brilliant win over Sevilla.

The 20-year-old can’t stop scoring for Dortmund at the moment and produced another stunning display in the German top flight on Saturday.

England international Sancho had opened the scoring for his side after 42 minutes and became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach 35 goals.

He then provided an assist to his teammate when he clipped in a ball to Haaland who then produced an incredible scissor kick from around 12 yards out.

The Norway striker, who looks unstoppable at the moment, added another in the second half.

Dortmund went on to win 4-0 but they are still well off the pace in the Bundesliga. They are down in sixth place and 13 points behind leaders Bayern Munich, who suffered a shock defeat on Saturday.

Haaland and Sancho have been the stars for the German club this season, who have been somewhat disappointing.

The striker has 17 goals in 17 league games this season – still a way behind top scorer Robert Lewandowski who has 26.

In total, Haaland has 43 goals in 43 appearances for Dortmund since he joined from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

“Erling is an absolute machine,” Marco Reus said. “He’s very hungry for goals. You see that in every game. We hope that he continues like this.”

And after thanking fans for their support on Twitter, ‘Come to Chelsea’ briefly trended with many fans watching him play and hoping he wears blue next season.

However, Manchester United have also been linked with the player, as have Man City.

“We’ve got a plan to become a very successful Man United team – and a team that top players want to play for,” United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

“It’s down to us to keep improving and getting closer to the trophies. I can’t say anything about individuals. But we’ve got the backing.”
