College Hoops Parlay Of The Day 3-6-21

We had another blistering hot day yesterday on the college hoops hardwood as we ran up an 8-4 overall record on our daily picks. That included multiple money line underdog winners, including wins by Loyola Marymount and Nevada. We had one game drop-off as the game between Drake and Northern Iowa was canceled last minute due to COVID-19 issues within the Panthers program, and the game between Boston College and Miami pushed, as it fell right at the number. We are back on the hunt for value and big payouts today with our college hoops parlay of the day bets!

Point Spread Parlay

Not all parlays are the same. In this first section, we are going to focus on point spread parlays. A point spread parlay is a parlay bet where all of the games bet are point spreads, and you will have to lay a little juice on each bet. A standard 3-team point spread parlay will payout 6-1, a 4-teamer pays out 11-1, and a 10-teamer pays out a whopping 720-1! As you can see, the payouts can get really big, really fast, on point spread parlays!

LSU Tigers at Missouri Tigers (-1.5)

The Missouri Tigers were in contention for a 1-seed not that long ago. After a red-hot start to the season where they knocked off top teams like Oregon, Wichita State, Liberty, Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama, the Tigers looked like a team that could make a run to the Final Four. But in the last couple of weeks, the Tigers have struggled to stay consistent as they have lost four out of their last six games. But when you take a closer look at these recent losses, they really aren’t all that bad, as two of them came in conference road games, and the two home losses came to Arkansas and Ole Miss, two strong teams.

For LSU, the Tigers have been amazing at home, running up an 11-2 record in Baton Rouge, but on the road, they haven’t been nearly as good. In true road games, LSU is just 3-6 on the year. Those three wins came over Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss, and if the season started today, none of those teams are going to be playing in the NCAA tournament, with maybe the exception of bubble team Ole Miss. A month ago, I would have picked Missouri to blow this one out, but with their recent struggles, I think this is a tight game. That being said, LSU just hasn’t shown the ability to beat an elite team on the road, so I am backing the home team.

Southern Utah Thunderbirds (-2.5) at Portland State Vikings

Another day, another bet on my favorite small conference school, the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. SUU has been tearing things apart in the Big Sky all season long, and the T-Birds haven’t lost since January. We backed them earlier this week in the first game of this back-to-back series with Portland State, and they won and covered, and I expect more of the same tonight. The T-Birds just beat the Vikings by 10-points on their home floor a couple of days ago, and to only have to lay -2.5 seems like outrageous value if you ask me.

Illinois Illini (+2.5) at Ohio State Buckeyes

The premier game of the day comes to us from Columbus, Ohio, where the Ohio State Buckeyes will look to snap their 3-game losing streak against a very talented Illinois team. Ohio State shot into the top-25 nationally when they won ten out of eleven games in league play with wins over Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and a host of other top teams in the league. But the Buckeyes have lost their last three games, with home floor losses to Michigan and Iowa and a road loss at Michigan State. This rough run late in the season isn’t going to cost the Buckeyes their dancing shoes, but it will drop them from a potential 1-seed to likely a three or a four if they can’t stop the bleeding tonight.

Illinois lost at home to this very same Ohio State team in January, but since that loss, the Illini have been crushing teams in the Big 10. The Illini have a 10-1 record in their last eleven games, and they have been road warriors all season long, as they have managed to win in hostile territory against some elite competition. Illinois has road wins at Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Indiana, Northwestern, Penn State, and Duke. There might not be a better road team in the nation right now than this Illini team, and with their superstar, Ayo Dosunmu expected to be back tonight, after missing action with a broken nose, I think that they give the Buckeyes all they can handle in this one. I am taking the hot hand and the points.

Money Line Magic

This next type of parlay we are going to look at is an all money line parlay. With these types of bets, you don’t care about points spreads, it is just who wins or loses the games that matter. Want to load up on a bunch of favorites and get paid when they all win? Do you smell a couple of big upsets? Parlay those together on a money line parlay, and you can get paid big!

Iowa State Cyclones at Kansas State Wildcats (-200)

I would suggest that you don’t look directly into the screen tonight in this game, as things are going to be ugly! Iowa State and K-State are the two worst teams in what might be the nation’s top conference, the Big 12. These teams are a combined 3-31 in conference play. This play is a straight fade of Iowa State, as the Cyclones have not won a single game in league play, and their two wins on the season came over 284th ranked Jackson State, and 350th ranked Arkansas Pine Bluff. Kansas State isn’t much better, but they are at least somewhat respectable at home, and I expect them to win this game with little sweat.

Mercer Bears at Wofford Terriers (-143)

Wofford is neck and neck with UNC Greensboro at the top of the SOCON this season, and the Terriers are hoping to punch their dance cards with a SOCON Conference tournament title this weekend. They play the Bears of Mercer, the seven seed, today, as Mercer took care of business last night in their opening round game against Samford. I always like backing teams that get a bye in these conference tournaments as the Bears are going to have tired legs tonight, whereas Wofford got to sit back and watch the action from the sidelines.

These teams played just once in the regular season, with Mercer pushing Wofford to the limits on the road before coming up just short of pulling off the outright upset. I think this game is going to be very competitive, and I don’t want to be in a spot where I have to lay any wood on Wofford, but I do think the Terriers are going to win this game. So, I’ll take them on the money line and expect them to win and advance tonight.

Xavier Musketeers at Marquette Golden Eagles (-143)

Xavier just can’t be trusted on the road right now. The Musketeers have shown flashes of being a great team, like when they beat Creighton and Oklahoma, but all of their success has come at home. On the road, they are just 2-4. Even against mediocre teams, the Musketeers just haven’t been able to win games away from home, as they have true road losses at St. John’s, Georgetown, and Providence, with each of those losses coming in the last month. Marquette hasn’t been very good this season, but they are playing their best basketball as of late as they have won three out of four games. This is a standard home team in league play spot, and I am backing the Golden Eagles.

The Daily Dog

Do you want a chance at jumbo payouts? The best way to stack the cash fast is by parlaying underdogs! You can back these teams getting the points, but the best way to get a huge return on your money is to take these teams on the money line!

Virginia Cavaliers at Louisville Cardinals (+110)

The ACC is as bad as I can ever remember it right now. That’s not to say that the league doesn’t have a lot of talent, it does, but this year’s ACC looks nothing like what we have grown accustomed to over the years where the best teams in the league can also lay claim to being the best teams in the nation. The league doesn’t have a single team in the top-10 nationally, and even the best teams in the league, like this Virginia team, aren’t consistent. Virginia has lost three of four, with recent losses to bubble teams Duke and NC State. The Cav’s only win in the last two weeks has come over a bad Miami team at home.

In true road games and neutral site games, the Cavaliers have not played well. Virginia has losses to Duke, Florida State, Gonzaga, Virginia Tech, and San Francisco away from Charlottesville. Those struggles away from home have to have Hoos fans nervous tonight, as they have to play against a Louisville team that has been nearly unbeatable at home. The Cardinals have a 9-1 record in Louisville, with their only loss coming to ACC regular season champions, Florida State. Home dogs in league play are always a favorite of mine, and in this game where I can back a team that basically never losses at home, against a team that does all of their losing on the road, I am backing Louisville.

Saint Louis Billikens at St. Bonaventure Bonnies (+112)

I know there are a lot of big programs playing today and some marquee matchups on the schedule, but in my opinion, the best game of the day in terms of entertainment value, is going to be this game between the Bonnies and the Billikens. This is a semifinal game in the A-10 conference tournament, and with both teams sitting right at the cut line for the NCAA tournament, the loser of this game just might find themselves on the outside looking in on Selection Sunday. Both of these teams missed big chunks of their seasons due to COVID-19 related delays, and with so few games played, they are both short on wins.

But when you look at how well they have played in that limited action, it shows you that these teams are both very solid squads. The Bonnies have wins over Davidson, VCU, and Richmond, while the Billikens have wins over LSU, NC State, Richmond, and St. Bonaventure. Saint Louis beat St. Bonaventure at home early in the conference season, and this one is just a straight gut check call, but I think the Bonnies get their revenge tonight and win this game and advance to the A-10 finals.

USC Trojans at UCLA Bruins (+120)

Does anybody want to win the PAC-12 regular season title this year? It seems that every team that climbs to the top of the mountain in the self-proclaimed conference of champions quickly falls off of a cliff. USC and UCLA both had ample opportunities to lock up the league title this year, but both teams are struggling here late in the season. USC was 12-2 in conference play before dropping three out of four games and giving up first place. UCLA had a nearly identical run as they too sat at 12-2, before losing three of four games to knock them down a notch in the league standings.

I just talked about how I love home underdogs, and I am going to be honest here, I almost can’t believe that UCLA is a home dog in this game. The Bruins have been up and down this year, but not at home. In Westwood, the Bruins are a perfect 11-0. The Trojans have only one win this year against a top-50 team on the road, and that came way back in early January. USC has lost their last two road games, including a really bad loss at Utah, and I love backing the Bruins as home underdogs tonight in LA.

  • St. Bonaventure Bonnies +112

Get Rich Or Die Trying

In this final section, we are going to go for the jumbo payouts! These are your lottery ticket types of plays that aren’t going to come in all that often but pay off big time when they do. A wise man once said, if you don’t swing hard, you never hit any home runs. Well, in this section, we swing for the fences!

Missouri State Bears at Drake Bulldogs (-1.5)

I really like this Missouri State team this year, but they just aren’t on the same level as Drake and Loyola-Chicago in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bears hosted Drake twice this season, and while both games were close, the Bulldogs won each contest. Throw in the fact that Drake caught a break last night when Northern Iowa was disqualified from the conference tournament, and they got the night off, while Missouri State had to play, and this feels like a very undervalued line on Drake. The Bulldogs have the best against the spread record in the nation at 20-5, and I see them covering this number as well in a must-win game for the Bulldogs.

Texas A&M Aggies at Arkansas Razorbacks (-14.5)

I hate to lay this type of wood in a conference game, but Arkansas is just on another level right now. Eric Musselman has his Razorbacks cruising right now as they have won ten of eleven, including a current seven-game winning streak. The Razorbacks are no stranger to running up the score either, as they have double-digit victories over Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State, Georgia, and Auburn in league play, and they are coming off of a 28-point drubbing off South Carolina in their last game. A&M is 2-4 on the road, and they have double-digit losses to TCU, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and Ole Miss. If the Aggies don’t get blown out by at least 20-points, I would be shocked.

Duke Blue Devils at North Carolina Tar Heels (-2)

The greatest rivalry in college basketball renews today as the North Carolina Tar Heels host the Duke Blue Devils. We have seen just about everything in this rivalry over the years, but one thing that we rarely see, is where both teams are sitting squarely on the bubble, like they are tonight. The Tar Heels have been all over the place this season, but in Chapel Hill, they are 9-1. Duke had their season get shaken up when their top freshman, future lottery pick Jalen Johnson, left the program, and while the Blue Devils saw a nice lift at first without Johnson on the floor, they have now lost back-to-back games to slide back off of the bubble.

You can normally throw the records out in this game, but it is hard to ignore the fact that North Carolina has been so good at home, and Duke has been so awful on the road. The Blue Devils have five road losses this year, and none of them came to teams currently ranked in the top-25 nationally, and a couple of them came to downright bad teams like Pittsburgh and Miami. Duke has seen their last two games go into overtime, and with them already being shorthanded with the loss of Johnson, fatigue may be a factor for the Blue Devils. I always expect the best when these two teams match up, but something tells me this one won’t be another all-time classic, as I see North Carolina coasting to a fairly easy victory.

Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks at Sam Houston State Bearkats (-1.5)

We have talked a lot about home/road splits in today’s column, and Sam Houston State deserves a mention as an elite home team as the Bearkats are undefeated in Huntsville at 12-0. The top four teams in the Southland are all very good this year. Sam Houston State, Stephen F Austin, Abilene Christian, and Nichols State are a tight-knit group at the top, and any one of these teams could win the league tournament. The Bearkats have home wins over Abilene Christian and Nichols State already, and I see them adding a win over Stephen F Austin to their already impressive resume tonight.

Morehead State Eagles (+7) at Belmont Bruins

I told you yesterday to watch out for Morehead State as I really like this Eagles team, and they have all kinds of momentum right now. The Eagles have won eighteen out of their last nineteen games, with their lone loss coming on the road at Belmont. The Eagles exacted their revenge against the Bruins when they beat them in the regular season finale at home, and now these teams square off with a trip to the Big Dance on the line. I see this game as a knockdown drag-out battle and would be shocked if this isn’t a one or two-possession game down the stretch. In a close game, I always want to take the points, give me Morehead State.

Davidson Wildcats at VCU Rams (-1.5)

I think VCU has done enough to get themselves into the NCAA tournament, but a win tonight in the A-10 Conference tournament semifinals would all but lock the Rams into the Big Dance. They face a Davidson team that beat them at the end of the regular season, but the Wildcats don’t have enough quality wins to warrant an at-large bid, in my opinion, and I think Davidson would have to win the tournament to get in. The only top-100 win for Davidson besides that win over VCU was against Vanderbilt early in the year and against a Rams team that has top-100 wins over Dayton, Saint Louis, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Utah State, and Memphis, I see the Rams as being too much for the Wildcats in this one.
