Betting on The Masked Singer Final in the UK

The Masked Singer took British TV viewers by storm when the first season kicked off back in 2019. The second season has been even more of a hit with all the twists and turns that make the show so special.

This weekend, The Masked Singer Season 2 will come to a close.

The final will be broadcast on Saturday, February 18th at 8:30 PM on ITV. Of course, as a betting man, I’ll be placing an obligatory wager on the outcome as well as enjoying the show.

The Masked Singer Season 2 – A Quick Recap

Here’s a quick recap of what has happened in The Masked Singer S2 so far. As always, it has been an eventful show with some surprises along the way.

The Alien (Sophie Ellis-Bextor)

The Alien, who turned out to be Sophie Ellis-Bextor, was eliminated in the very first episode. She sang an out-of-this world rendition of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now,” but the panellists weren’t over the moon with it, and The Robin, whose identity is still unknown, went through.

Seahorse (Mel B)

The Seahorse made her first performance on episode 2 of the show, and it was to be her one and only appearance. She sang a bubbly rendition of “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” by Kylie Minogue. Ultimately, she lost out to The Viking. I was disappointed with this result. As a Mel B fan, I wanted to sea more of her. Sorry, I’ll try and stop with the puns!

Swan (Martine McCutcheon)

The Swan debuted in the first episode and ultimately didn’t make it past the third. For a singer with a couple of big hits in her past, it’s surprising that McCutcheon didn’t glide through at least a few episodes, but it wasn’t to be. She did manage to pull off some of her cygnet-ure dance moves, though.

Grandfather Clock (Glenn Hoddle)

The Grandfather Clock first appeared in the second episode, and it may well go down as the worst performance during this season of The Masked Singer. He sang “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley. And while he wasn’t eliminated right away, The Viking smashed him in the fourth episode when he was finally sent on his merry way. It was only a matter of time, really!

Bush Baby (John Thomson)

Do you remember those creepy Furby toys from back in the day? Yes, so do I, and it appears that the costume team for The Masked Singer style this character after one. Why not a lion or a monkey? We’ll never know.

Bush Baby survived his first appearance, but he howled through a rendition of “Release Me” by Engelbert Humperdinck to meet his ultimate demise. If only the performance had had some teeth!

Viking (Morten Harket)

As you might have picked up from the previous recaps, The Viking actually did quite well. He eliminated a couple of opponents before succumbing in the sixth episode when he was axed from the show along with another performer.

Blob (Sir Lenny Henry)

The Blob didn’t do too badly in The Masked Singer Season 2. He squeezed through both the first and fourth episodes with performances of “Uptown Funk,” “Word Up,” and Pitbull’s “Hotel Room Service.”

However, The Blob’s run came to an end in episode six after he sang “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer. And just like that, his hopes and dreams were squashed.

Harlequin (Gabrielle)

The Harlequin almost didn’t make it through the first episode, but she then returned to give awesome performances in episodes four, five, and six. She nailed Harry Styles’ “Falling,” but ultimately, when the mask slipped, she didn’t have what it took to win. That’s surprising because the Harlequin was none other than Gabrielle, one of the finest R&B singers to ever come out of Britain.

Dragon (Sue Perkins)

The Dragon scorched the stage with a heart-warming version of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” in the first episode. I’m sure the cute costume helped, because really scorching the stage is a little bit of an overstatement.

The Dragon had a good run and survived a few more episodes. However, Sue Perkins was revealed to be the performer behind the costume after she was eliminated in episode seven. It probably wasn’t a great idea to attempt an Adele song. Nobody could bring that kind of fire except Adele herself!
