The tournament will end for more than a few golfers on Friday afternoon. Yes, it’s cut day at the Masters—where Justin Rose holds an alarming four-shot lead. Rose, who has been close to a green jacket several times before, may already have victory on his mind. Other players will be looking to shoot their way into contention on Friday, while some will simply be focused on earning weekend spots.
Who is going low on Day 2? Let’s take a look at best four-leg, two-ball parlay for Friday at the Masters.
Justin Thomas (-120) over Tony Finau
Collin Morikawa (+100) over Cameron Smith
Matthew Wolff (+145) over Jason Day
Viktor Hovland -110 over Bubba Watson
Parlay odds: +1615
Justin Thomas (-120) over Tony Finau
Thomas won The Players Championship and he was the betting favorite before the Masters began. The second-ranked American is in fine shape, having salvaged a 1-over 71 out of a round in which he was 3-over at the turn. Finau, who is 2-over, often struggles on Sundays. If he starts slowly in round two, Friday may start feeling like a Sunday while flirting with the cut line.
Collin Morikawa (+100) over Cameron Smith
Like Finau, Smith is also at a relatively disappointing 2-over. The Aussie did well to shoot 2-under on the back nine, but he birded 13 and eagled 15—two of the easiest holes on the course—while not doing much of anything else. Morikawa produced an uneventful 1-over 73; needless to say, uneventful rounds in Augusta are good. Playing in just his second Masters, 18 more holes of experience will serve Morikawa well on Friday.
Matthew Wolff (+145) over Jason Day
Day is one of those guys who when he is good, is really good. But he when he is cold, he is really cold. The Aussie’s poor stretches are often injury related. I’m not sure if that’s the case here, but whatever it is it isn’t good. A 5-over 77 on Thursday has Day just about already out of the tournament. Wolff wasn’t much better (4-over), but this is his first April Masters like Morikawa and he should improve dramatically with a round under his belt.
Viktor Hovland -110 over Bubba Watson
Triple-bogeys doomed a bunch of guys on Thursday. Hovland began his week in the worst possible way, tripling the first hole. However, the 23-year-old Norwegian bounced back to shoot a 1-over 73. All things considered given that start, he has to like where he ended up. Meanwhile, Watson (2-over) played his last four holes on Thursday in 3-over. The two-time champion does not have much momentum…for multiple reasons.
