Fantasy football is an emotional game whether we like to admit it or not.
There are ebbs and flows to a season but in the off-season, we shouldn’t ignore the emotional rollercoaster that is average draft position. News or “non-news” comes out and it affects ADP. However, just because someone is a “riser” or “faller” doesn’t necessarily mean that player is not necessarily a final verdict for fantasy. A faller could present new value. A riser could inflate someone to the point where they aren’t draftable. In Best Ball, playing the ADP game is so important.
As detailed in our Best Ball Primer part of the Ultimate Draft Kit+, we’ve explored every player’s ADP and team stackability component to give you the inside track on how to build your rosters. Betz and I have been hyping up the “Summer of Best Ball” on the Fantasy Footballers DFS podcast discussing strategy, stacking and league winners.
Recent Risers
QBs
Quarterback movement is relatively stable considering there are so many and you only start one of them each week. The upside cases for both of these are merited.
- Ryan Tannehill (101.4)- With Julio coming to town, Tannehill’s rise is as obvious as it gets. Our own Robert Wilson declared Tannehill the most obvious value in all of fantasy football. After the Titans Week 4 bye last season (also known as the time they didn’t have A.J. Brown) Ryan Tannehill was the #2 QB in fantasy. If you wanted to be all-in on the Titans, you could conceivably get Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown, and Tannehill with a draft slot between 3-5 according to our Stackability Metric in the Best Ball Primer. We’ve seen his upside and honestly, any QB has a case in the top-100 picks to be a top-5 guy.
- Trey Lance (118.4)- Lance is one of Betz’s league winners and someone who likely will go near pick 100 by August. I recently explored Lance’s dynasty range of outcomes while also mentioning how easy the 49ers schedule is in 2021. He’s settling in as a “swing for the fences” QB2 that gels perfectly with “you ain’t first you’re last” Best Ball strategy.
RBs
It’s about that time of the summer. Rookie RBs receive a ton of work in OTAs and so you’ll hear beat reporters talk up who is “running with the 1s” without often the added context of “none of the starters were at practice”. However, I will note all of these RBs deserve it.
