Week 7 of the 2021 LCS Summer Split is right around the corner and, frankly, there’s quite a lot to talk about! Some of the most mind-blowing upsets happened last week, and none of them could have been predicted beforehand.
Betting, therefore, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. On the other hand, if you’re feeling adventurous, now would be as good a time as any to put your money on the line as the underdogs actually have a shot!
This week in the #LCS it’s @FlyQuest versus the world! How many times will we get a #FLYWIN?

There are just three weeks of regular season play left which means that the margin for error has shrunk considerably. All ten permanent partners will try their hardest to get as many wins on the board and generate as much hype as they possibly can before potentially entering the playoffs.
Reaching the playoffs is relatively easy; leaving a mark once Best of 5s come around is what’s truly challenging.
Moreover, the last three teams in the standings are currently engaged in a mighty fierce fight for that last playoff spot! We’re still talking about bottom-tier dwellers here, but it’s a fight nonetheless!
The Golden Guardians have been playing some surprisingly good League of Legends, but they have the worst record. FlyQuest’s Academy team, on the other hand, is on a three-game winstreak and have looked downright incredible (against some fairly respectable opposition, no less).
And, finally, there’s Counter Logic Gaming — an organization that is still finding new and “creative” ways of disappointing us. They don’t have much of a shot, but stranger things have happened on North American soil, so they shouldn’t be counted out just yet.
The Standings — Take Nothing At Face Value
The current LCS status quo is both unstable and perplexing in equal measure. It’s nigh impossible to objectively and confidently assess who’s good and whether they’ll continue performing or implode at the first sign of trouble. Some teams have had great flashes of brilliance, interspersed between long stretches of absolute mediocrity.
Moreover, we’ve been here before. Just because a team is doing well doesn’t mean it is destined for greatness, or anything close to it.
Then again, we won’t blame you if you decide to board the EG hype train — their eight-game winstreak has definitely been earned in sweat and blood! There’s just this lingering feeling that sooner or later they’ll drop the ball. With Evil Geniuses you’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
By the same token, Cloud9 have dropped nine games thus far and have barely managed to keep up with 100 Thieves and Team SoloMid. But we know what they’re capable of and have no doubt whatsoever that they’ll correct course in time for the playoffs.
A bad week or two is by no means the be-all and end-all, so take nothing that happens at face value.
A Strange Status Quo
They’re far from perfect, of course, but they’re the most consistent team in the LCS. Then there’s Team SoloMid who are far less flexible but still mighty dangerous. Their overreliance on late game team comps and strategies might come back to bite them further down the line, but right now, as things stand, they have nothing to be worried about.
Everyone else below them can easily take games off each other depending on the day. Evil Geniuses are obviously a cut above, but — based on their own admission — they’re still as volatile as ever. That’s pretty much your LCS Top 5. They’re all flawed in one way or another but are head and shoulders above the five teams ranked below them, and that’ll probably remain the case throughout the rest of the split.
2021 LCS Summer Split Week 7 Betting | Which Teams to Bet On
We’ll take a different approach this time around. Instead of focusing on individual match-ups, we’ll talk about the few teams that are currently performing above expectations and are, therefore, worth betting on. They might not be the best teams overall, but have nonetheless accomplished “wonders” over the last couple of weeks.
Golden Guardians are obviously a prime example. Their 7W-11L Summer Split record might not seem all that impressive, but they’re just two wins behind the defending LCS champions. Let that one sink in. They had beaten both 100 Thieves and Team Liquid last week, so you know they’re not to be trifled with. With Eric “Licorice” Ritchie aboard, they’ve been playing with renewed vigor, and we can’t wait to see what they’ll be able to accomplish going forward.
They’re the frontrunners to lock down that last playoff spot, and are scheduled to face Evil Geniuses, Dignitas QNTMPAY, and Cloud9 over the next few days. They’re not really favored odds-wise, but have obviously done more than enough to warrant our attention. We know for a fact that they can win at least two of those games, so if you’re looking for an underdog worth betting on, look no further than the Golden Guardians!
FlyQuest comes in at a close second, although it’s worth mentioning that they’re scheduled to face the who’s who of the LCS — Team SoloMid on Friday, Evil Geniuses on Saturday, and 100 Thieves on Sunday. That’s about as hard as it gets.
Still, they have a shot against TSM as the boys in black and white have been fairly inconsistent lately. They’ve lost two of their last three games and didn’t look all that good in their win against GGS either, so if there’s ever a good time to bet on FlyQuest — who’ve been playing some truly mind-blowing League of Legends — now would be it.
Much like GGS, they’re not favored whatsoever, but they’ve already pulled off three exceptional upsets in a row, so they might actually stand a chance this time around as well, as crazy as it might seem.
Finally, Cloud9 deserves a mention. They haven’t looked all that great lately but have a fairly forgiving schedule for Week 7: Immortals, Counter Logic Gaming, and the Golden Guardians. Now, they could, by all means, lose at least one of these games if they don’t get on the same page and execute, but they’re favored and there’s a good reason why.
We’re not so sure they’ll be able to beat GGS (based on their recent performances), but Immortals and Counter Logic Gaming are almost guaranteed to succumb to the defending LCS champions. It probably won’t be a blowout, but Cloud9 should definitely be able to emerge victorious on both Friday and Saturday.
2021 LCS Summer Split Week 7 Betting | Which Teams to Avoid
You can never be too certain which shade of TSM will step foot on stage to compete, and that’s frustrating, to say the least. They’ve also been experimenting a bit too much with their drafts so it’s best to just avoid them for the time being.
The same goes for Team Liquid who’ve also struggled last week despite bringing in Barney “Alphari” Morris. It just wasn’t as good or dominant a showing as we expected. In time, they’ll surely look like the dominant TL of old, but there’s no way of knowing when that’ll happen.
Week 7 of the 2021 LCS Summer Split will provide us with some much-needed answers. What’ll happen still remains to be seen, but it’ll surely be as entertaining (and surprising) as ever, so definitely make sure to tune in!
