UFC 255 RESULTS: Deiveson Figueiredo and Valentina Shevchenko both RETAIN their flyweight titles and Paul Craig makes a statement

In terms of raw star power, UFC 255 was one of the lesser revered cards of the year for MMA’s premier promotion, but the fighters delivered an exciting show regardless.

The card was headlined by two flyweight champions – Valentina Shevchenko of the women’s division and Deiveson Figueiredo of the men’s.

Both Valentina Shevchencko and her sister, Antonina, were both successful at UFC 255
Deiveson Figueiredo retained in style

Both were able to retain their titles in fine fashion and we had some interesting narratives unfold further down the card too as Mike Perry met his maker, Scotland’s Paul Craig stopped a UFC legend and Joaquin Buckley’s own legend kept growing.

Let’s get into the results:

Alan Jouban def. Jared Gooden via unanimous decision

Kyle Daukaus def. Dustin Stoltzfus via unanimous decision

Sasha Palatnikov def Louis Cosce via third-round KO

Brandon Moreno def. Brandon Royval via first-round KO

Joaquin Buckley def. Jordan Wright via second-round KO

Antonina Shevchenko def. Ariane Lipski via second-round KO

Nicholas Dalby def. Daniel Rodriguez via unanimous decision

Tim Means def. Mike Perry via unanimous decision

Kaitlyn Chookagian def. Cynthia Calvillo via unanimous decision

Paul Craig def. Shogun Rua via second-round KO

Valentina Shevchenko (c) def. Jennifer Maia via unanimous decision – UFC Women’s flyweight title

Deiveson Figueiredo (c) def.  Alex Perez via submission UFC flyweight title

The main stories coming out of this card are, of course, the title retentions, but Mike Perry’s decline is something to consider with just three wins in his past nine UFC fights and Paul Craig’s rise in the light-heavyweight division is gaining serious momentum.

Even more pressing, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Morenol, two men that both fought and won on the card last night, have already officially verbally agreed to fight at UFC 256 in just under three weeks time for the flyweight title.

Next month, UFC have Leon Edwards and newest sensation Khamzat Chimaev headlining a card on the 19th and we get UFC 256 on the 12th.

Deiveson Figueiredo will get back out again quickly

Originally, Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling were set to battle it out for the batamweight title, but it’s recently been announced that fight have been rescheduled for February and the main event of 256 is not decided at this time of writing.

It is expected, however, that Tony Ferguson will return to the octagon after his thrashing at the hands of Justin Gaethje last May and he’ll take on Charles Oliveira in a lightweight clash.
