It’s Week 10, which means the fantasy playoff picture is coming into focus. There’s still enough time for those three- and four-win teams to sneak into the playoffs, but the margins are razor-thin and it’s going to take a lot of smart Start/Sit decisions, waiver-wire pickups, trades, and a little bit of luck to get there. The Ballers are here to help you out with their Starts of the Week and “Taking It Up To 100” players for the week.
For the “Taking It Up to 100,” Mike went with John Brown, Andy selected Jay Griz special Allen Robinson, and Jason picked Jalen Reagor.

Andy’s Starts
QB: Drew Brees vs. San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco’s defense has been getting torched by opposing QBs four out of the past six weeks with only the NYJ giving up more fantasy points to opposing QBs the past two weeks. Drew Brees looks to extend his four-game QB1 streak now that he’s back on home turf with Michael Thomas in the lineup.
RB: Chase Edmonds vs. Buffalo Bills
Chase Edmonds was a let down last week while turning 28 touches into only 88 yards, but gets to face a BUF defense that’s been second-worst against the run over the past five weeks. Edmonds is in line for 20 or more touches again and could easily see more than last week’s three targets if BUF’s offense is able to move and score against ARI. Kenyan Drake may steal some work if he’s back from injury.
WR: Travis Fulgham @ New York Giants
Travis Fulgham has been a top-15 WR in three out of the past four weeks while averaging over 10 targets per game over that span. His four-game pace would put him at 108 receptions for 1,500 yards and 12 TDs over a whole season. That might not be sustainable especially with Jalen Reagor in the lineup, but NYG is giving up an average of 30 fantasy points to opposing WRs.
CIN has been the worst team against TEs over the last five weeks while Eric Ebron has finished as a top-10 TE in back-to-back weeks due in part to a TD in each of those games. Ebron’s targets have been up with no fewer than four targets in a game since Week 1 while averaging six targets per game over that span.
Jason’s Starts
QB: Tom Brady @ Carolina Panthers
Tom Brady had one of the worst performances of his career last week, but he has a knack for bouncing back. He’s also consistently been a top-10 QB throughout the year. Carolina’s defense is bottom-half against the pass and has given up the fifth-highest fantasy points to QBs over the past two weeks.
RB: Miles Sanders @ New York Giants
Miles Sanders is back and fresh off a bye week. The NYG’s have given up the eighth-most fantasy points to RBs this year including the second-most targets to RBs. Sanders was on pace for over 1,300 yards rushing and another 300 yards receiving before his injury. This is a great spot to get back on track.
WR: Cooper Kupp vs. Seattle Seahawks
WRs have already gained over 2,200 yards against SEA’s porous defense while no other team has given up more than 2,000 yards to receivers yet. Cooper Kupp is dealing with a wrist injury, but should be good to go coming off a 20 target game in Week 8 vs MIA. Kupp is due with only two TDs on the season. If for some reason Kupp is out for this game, the pivot would be to Josh Reynolds who has 17 targets of his own over the past two games. Reynolds might be in play even with Kupp in the lineup given SEA’s defensive struggles.
Jason was relieved that Mike chose Evan Engram as his start of the week at TE because it opened up Austin Hooper. Hooper started the year slowly, but he’s averaged 7.7 targets over his last three games. The winds are looking rough for Cleveland this week, which should play into Hooper’s hands with shorter targets against a team that’s given up almost six receptions per game to TEs.
Mike’s Starts
QB: Jared Goff vs. Seattle Seahawks
“Announcing Jared Garf.” SEA is giving up 28 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs and we just saw Josh Allen cruise to over 400 yards passing and three TDs against this defense. Goff might not have the ceiling Allen has, but he’s thrown for at least one TD in every game since Week 1 and has three 300-yard game this year including a 355-yard (albeit inefficient) outing in his last appearance in MIA.
RB: J.D. McKissic @ Detroit Lions
Joshua Dobbie McKissic faces a DET defense that has given up three straight top-5 fantasy finishes to opposing RBs. Antonio Gibson is a little banged up and Alex Smith is the starter with Kyle Allen out. In the past two games with Smith, McKissic saw eight and 14 targets. Meanwhile, DET leads the league in TDs given up to RBs through the air with five.
WR: Jarvis Landry vs. Houston Texans
We’ve only seen one game with Odell Beckham Jr. out of the lineup and it was the weather week, but Jarvis Landry still racked up 11 targets. Landry should still be targeted often against HOU’s weak passing defense that just gave up over 300 yards passing to Jake Luton and back-to-back four TD games to Ryan Tannehill and Aaron Rodgers before that.
Evan Engram has been somewhat disappointing, but he converted nine targets in six receptions for 46 yards the last time he faced PHI and he’s seen nearly 10 targets per game over the past three weeks. He’s also “heating up” finishing as the TE4 and TE7 over the past couple of weeks.
Finally, the episode was topped off with the most anticipated segment of the episode — Jason Moore‘s Iron-Clad Locked and Loaded 100% Guaranteed Boom Boom Kicker of the Week:
“Everyone loves the Boom Boom, but I don’t get the futz. Just do yourself a favor and start the Saints’ Will Lutz!”
