NXT Tag Team champion Danny Burch to do ‘everything he can’ to show his love for West Ham on WWE TV

Danny Burch is a British professional wrestler that was flying the flag for the UK long before the British seen started booming.

Now, the 38 year old has tasted title success in WWE by capturing the NXT Tag Team titles alongside Oney Lorcan.

Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan won the tag team titles from Breezango

In the process, Burch and Lorcan aligned with the charismatic Pat McAfee and the next week at Halloween Havoc, Pete Dunne joined the fray, too.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Burch tried to describe what it felt like to reach the apex of his career thus far.

“I’m in the seventeenth year of being a professional wrestler and it’s been three years since I’ve been back with NXT, so to cap it off thus far with a Tag Title win, it means the world to me. Still hasn’t sunk in yet.”

Linking up with McAfee seems a sure-fire way to get on everyone’s bad side as the former NFL star is already an elite talker.

“Pat’s the man,” Burch started. If there is such a thing as a natural in this business, Pat is it. So charismatic and the ability to rub every single person the wrong way is something that can’t be taught. Now with Pete in the fold, we’re about to get as violent as you can get. So this is going to be very, very good.”

Burch hails from London and is a passionate West Ham fan. Coincidentally, Triple H is a West Ham fan, too and even made a video earlier this year persuading Declan Rice to stay at the club.

Will Burch be showing his love for The Hammers on WWE TV now he’s a champion?

“I’ve not had that conversation with him yet, but that will be happening very, very soon,” Burch said of the mutual love he shares for West Ham with Tripe H.

“I’m going to do everything I can to get that point [my love for West Ham] across. So, let’s leave it at that and go from there. I plan on being the best blend of Ray Winston, Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones that I can bring to professional wrestling. Forever blowing bubbles, it’s a London thing!”

Triple H has helped build NXT from a developmental idea to network television show over the past decade and Burch is full of praise for what he has done for the brand and indeed, his career.

“From when I first got hired in 2012 to when it changed from FCW to NXT, just from that time period of how it changed to getting released and being completely on the back-burner and being on the sidelines, you saw how it grew into what it is now.

“It’s absolutely blows my mind. Triple H and Shawn Michaels have literally taken something so small and made it absolutely huge.

“There’s not one person that doesn’t know our brand or those three letters – NXT. To be apart of that and especially during this time of a pandemic where fans can’t be present, but everything they have done to still make this product what it is, it’s amazing to be apart of. I’m going to do everything I can to make it as special for everyone watching at home as I can.”
