NFL Picks Week 2: Ravens versus Texans headline action

The NFL season has reached the second week and after some week one upsets, there are plenty of interesting match ups this weekend. We’ll take a look at five of them with the Ravens at Texans the featured game.

Baltimore Ravens versus Houston Texans

The Ravens enter coming off a 32-point win, while the Texans fell by 14 in their opener. Baltimore enters as a 1.36 to 3.460 favorite with an over/under of 52.5.  The Texans opened the season with a +19 to +16 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, but after week one the Ravens are “burning hot” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Both teams have been trending in games “under” the line and with the Ravens stellar defense, that is the wise play in this one. Look for a much closer contest for the Ravens this week, but they should come away with the win.

Carolina Panthers versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Both teams are starting new quarterbacks this season and both are coming off opening week losses. The Buccaneers are heavy 1.23 to 4.26 favorites with an “over/under” of 48.5. Tampa Bay opened the season with a +19 to +5 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. After the opener, teams are both trending poorly, at “average down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator.  The Totals Predictor Indicates the “over” is a great play in this game. Look for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to be much more fluid offensively this week and come out of it with a victory.

Los Angeles Rams versus Philadelphia Eagles

The Rams took down the Cowboys in their opener, while the Eagles blew a 17-point lead against Washington. Philadelphia is a very slight 1.9 to 1.93 favorite with an “over/under” of 45.5. Entering the season the Eagles held a +21 to +17 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, but after week one, they are “average” versus “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Best to bet the “under” in this one, according to the Totals Predictor. Generally the Eagles are among the best in the league at home, but won’t have the home crowd benefit this time. Philadelphia normally rebounds from a subpar performance and I expect the same here, winning narrowly, possibly with a field goal late.

Buffalo Bills versus Miami Dolphins

The Bills had a solid win in their opener, while the Dolphins fell by ten points. Buffalo is a 1.41 to 2.974 road favorite with an “over/under” at 40.5  Miami had a +28 to +10 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator entering the season, but that can be thrown out the window. Buffalo is on an upward trend at “ice cold up” and the Dolphins are heading towards the abyss at “average down”. Best to avoid the “over/under” based off the recent trends. The Bills took both meetings between the teams last season and I expect the trend to continue, dropping the Dolphins to 0-2.

New England Patriots versus Seattle Seahawks

The Patriots got off to a great start with Cam Newton under center, defeating the Dolphins by ten. Seattle also got in the win column with a 38-25 win over the Falcons. New England has a +23 to +15 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator, while both teams are “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Seattle is a solid home favorite at 1.51 to 2.59 and the “over/under” is 44.5. Expect that number to be shattered, so play the “over” with confidence. As for the game itself, the Seahawks have the better overall team and are difficult to beat at home. Go with Seattle to win by a touchdown.
