As has become tradition on Christmas Day we’ve got a full slate of NBA games. The Nets are back in action after blowing out the Warriors in their opening game. They should have a tougher time against the Celtics who opened with a win against Milwaukee. Out west we’ve got the Mavs visiting the Lakers with both teams looking for their first win of the season.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics

Nets Look Like the Real Deal
The Brooklyn Nets came out guns blazing in their opener and blew out the Warriors, justifying the -7.5-point spread. Today they are 3 point favorites on the road against the Boston Celtics. On the SBR NBA odds page, this game opened at a PK so that shows you that the public likes what they saw in Brooklyn's first game. I'm taking the points with the Celtics, even though I agree with the public in terms of I like what I saw against Golden State.
The reason I'm taking the points with the Celtics is I also believe that some of that result had to do with how bad the Warriors played, especially on defense. The Celtics will bring a much different level of defensive intensity, especially considering Kyrie Irving is coming back to town.
I like the Celtics continuity and I think at home they can hang around and possibly win this game. I will say if you like the Nets, you better take them now because this is as cheap of a price you'll see for a while if they win big again here today. I'll believe it when I see it and I'm more comfortable taking points with the home team.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Lakers and Mavs Look to Bounce Back After Tough Start
Both the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers look to get their first win of the season as they face off on Christmas day. The Lakers fell to the Clippers in their first game while the Mavs lost on the road to Phoenix. Neither team played particularly badly but will be looking for an improved effort in this one. The line for the game opened at -5.5 Los Angeles but has been bet up to -6.5. I'm still not sure how ready the Lakers are to compete although I do expect them to be focused in this game.
I'm taking the points with Dallas because I think they can stay close with this Lakers team. The amount of threes that Dallas takes and usually makes is a great equalizer for them and I think that will be the case in this game. I think the Lakers win this game but I'm not ready to lay this many points with them this early in the season.
They had a very short offseason and were not keen to start the season again so early. Also, the Lakers have had a pretty good amount of roster turnover from last year and have a few pieces that still need to gel with the group. Dallas has the edge in terms of continuity and in the end, I like them to keep it close enough to cover set by betting sites in this spot.
