Ladies and gents… Christmas has arrived a bit early with two Monday Night Football games on the slate this week. Washington kicks off first against the Steelers and then the Bills and 49ers finish the night off. Below we’ll take a look at Week 13’s matchup between the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers––along with the best sportsbook to go with when betting on this primetime game.
Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers
Sunday, December 7, 2020 – 8:15 PM ET at State Farm Stadium
It has been a rough year for everyone but especially for the 49ers. They lost over two dozen players to injuries or COVID-19 positive cases. However, the banged-up team is 5-6 and still in contention for a Wild Card spot. Now, the Niners enter the matchup without a home since Santa Clara County COVID-19 restrictions. These issues in the back of their head did not keep them from defeating the Rams on Sunday.
The Matchup
Luckily, just a few hours away, the Arizona Cardinals will be nice enough to let the Niners play host in their stadium, State Farm Stadium. This works out perfectly since the Cards play on Sunday while the 49ers are set to kickoff on Sunday. And while you might think it’s a terrible thing for the 49ers to lose their “home field advantage,” it could actually be in San Francisco's favor. The Bills are most likely traumatized by the Cardinals’ dome after losing to a Hail Mary play that last time they visited.
Also, in the Cardinals' favor is the fact that their roster is starting to look a lot more healthy. With Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk back in the lineup, Kyle Shanahan should have even more success than he did in last week’s win against the Rams.
As for the Bills, well, they’re en route to playoffs at 8-3 on the season. The Bills more than covered as 4.5-point favorites in a 27-17 win over the Chargers in Week 12. Quarterback Josh Allen threw for a touchdown and ran for another as the Bills held a 24-6 lead heading into the third-quarter. It was a rusty ending, but they held on tight to win. Allen finished the day with 157 passing yards (18 of 24 pass attempts) with one touchdown and one pick, while rushing for 32 yards on 9 carries. Not his best day, but he still carried the team.
12 weeks in, the Bills rank 6th in passing offense, 12th in rushing offense and 10th with 27.2 points per game. Buffalo's defense is 15th in passing defense and also stands at 18th with 25.6 points allowed per game.
The Niners rank 21st in passing offense, 12th in rushing offense, and 20th with 23.7 points per game. San Francisco's defense is 14th in passing, 10th in rushing defense, and 11th with 23.1 points allowed per game.
Prediction
The 49ers will have some of their key pieces back but they will have their work cut out for them as they take on Josh Allen. The Niners’ defense has struggled against mobile quarterbacks this season so, facing Allen will be a tough task for them. Overall, the Bills have the better team, so go with them on the betting sites.
