Field of Streams, Streaming options to help you dominate your week. For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.
The NFL changes quite a bit from week to week and year to year, I will try to help alleviate your concerns and focus on players that I would try and stream. This year more than ever (Thanks, COVID) will be difficult to Stream. Most leagues have expanded rosters, so this year, I will be looking at only players who are available in UNDER 50% of Yahoo leagues. All options may not be available in your specific league.
Week 9 was another great week for us, even if it did not feel like it was going in. Drew Lock’s 35.22 fantasy points were good enough for the QB5 finish and Foles snuck his way in the top-12 finishing as QB11 with 26.6 fantasy points. Eric Ebron’s athleticism was on full display as he hurdled a Cowboy defender for his TD, finishing as TE9 with 9.7 fantasy points. Yet again, DST was straight fire. All 3 options finished in the top-12 with Tennessee (14pts), New York Giants (11pts), and Washington(4pts) finishing as the 2nd, 4th, and 11th best Defense/Special Teams units on the week. Check out who you can Stream for week 10 below!
Quarterback
Derek Carr vs DEN, 42% owned
The Raiders have failed to exceed 25 passing attempts each of the last 2 weeks, while never finishing below 30 in any game prior. Even still, he had 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions this past week. If Carr’s volume goes up, I expect he finishes in the top-12.
Tua Tagovailoa vs LAC, 24% owned
Tua vs Kyler was a fun matchup to watch. And now we get Tua vs Herbert this week. Tua showed his athleticism a bit, and he was much better than he was in his first game. If they continue to open up the playbook a bit, he could be in line for a bigger week.
Teddy Bridgewater vs TB, 41% owned
I did not see Teddy having as much success last week as he did against a good Chiefs front. Now he gets another tough defense in the Buccaneers, but we have seen him overcome tough matchups before. No Christian McCaffrey should mean more passing attempts for Teddy.
Tight End
Austin Hooper vs HOU, 42% owned
Hooper has been practicing for about a week now and most signs point to him suiting up this week. If he can go, he should see increased volume with Odell Beckham Jr. out of the lineup. He had 5 catches in 3 straight games prior to missing time, I expect that to be close to his floor if fully healthy.
Jimmy Graham vs MIN, 49% owned
He has seen at least 6 targets in 4 straight and is clearly the favorite Red Zone target for Nick Foles. In a position that relies heavily on TD production, Graham’s odds are as good as any to find the end zone yet again.
Trey Burton @ TEN, 22% owned
I never thought a Tight End could be a “Gadget player” but here we are. Trey Burton has seen a few rushing attempts this year, and with Doyle set to miss the game, he should see increased volume. I like Burton a lot this week in his Thursday matchup with the Titans.
Defense/Special Teams
Philadelphia Eagles @ NYG, 49% owned
In their last matchup, the Eagles sacked Danny Dimes 3 times and forced 3 turnovers. With no signs of drastically improving since their last matchup, I like the Eagles Defense to again get to Jones for a few sacks and a few turnovers.
New Orleans Saints vs SF, 48% owned
San Francisco should be getting multiple weapons back from the COVID list, but they still have to choose between Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard for their Quarterback. I like New Orleans to put pressure on either one and force a few mistakes.
Green Bay Packers vs JAC, 37% owned
The Packers defense has not been a world-beating unit by any means (trust me, I know), but they get a Rookie QB in his 2nd start. If they can apply pressure, he could make some mistakes. Jaire Alexander needs to get back on the field, but I like the matchup.
Stay tuned next week to see the Field Of Streams results from all the players mentioned above, as well as my streamers for next week. Follow me on Twitter for more updates and insight @jjgosh.
