Biggest Studs
Josh Allen
Week 9 vs SEA: 31 completions for 415 passing yards & 3 TD | 7 rushes for 14 yards & 1 TD
Upcoming Schedule: @ARI, BYE, LAC, @SF
Allen returned to his early season fantasy form after a few weeks of low scores. He also led the Bills to a win against the Seahawks, which is reassuring for Bills fans. Allen has a pretty easy schedule coming up but faces two really tough defenses in the fantasy playoffs: Week 14 vs PIT (5th toughest against fantasy QBs) and Week 16 @ NE (1st). Allen is an every-week starter, but you may want to consider trading him if you are a likely playoff contender and looking ahead to your fantasy playoffs.
Christian McCaffrey
Week 9 @ KC: 18 rushes for 69 yards & 1 TD | 10 receptions for 82 yards & 1 TD
Upcoming Schedule: TB, DET, @MIN, BYE
He’s back! CMC had a big outing this weekend, and fantasy managers were glad to have him back. He immediately stepped back into the heavy workload we’re all used to seeing – he had 28 total opportunities. Meanwhile, teammate Mike Davis only “stole” one rush and six targets. Davis is clearly not going to take away from the CMC we’re used to. That being said, CMC suffered a shoulder injury this weekend and could miss more time. That means Mike Davis is a must-add if he was dropped to waivers in your league. Monitor the Carolina backfield as news breaks this week.
Jerry Jeudy
Week 9 @ ATL: 7 receptions on 14 targets for 125 yards & 1 TD
Upcoming Schedule: @LV, MIA, NO, @KC
Jeudy had his first big game in his young NFL career. Jeudy was a top-2 receiver prospect entering this year’s NFL draft, and we’ve started to see his talent produce for fantasy. Keep in mind Atlanta is an easy matchup for QB’s, but I’m optimistic Jeudy takes a step forward in the second half of this season. Drew Lock has been up and down, and time will tell if he can allow Jeudy to put up strong, consistent fantasy numbers moving forward. Regardless, Jeudy seems to be panning out as expected based on his draft pedigree.
Biggest Stinkers
Tom Brady
Week 9 vs NO: 22 completions for 209 yards & 3 interceptions
Upcoming Schedule: @CAR, LAR, KC, BYE
Drew Brees and the Saints crushed the Buccaneers this weekend. In a game where Antonio Brown made his debut alongside receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, we expected a much better performance from Brady…Especially considering it was a good fantasy matchup. Brady has a tough upcoming schedule but an excellent playoff schedule. Better days are ahead.
Justin Jackson
Week 9 vs LV: 0 rushes / 0 receptions
Upcoming Schedule: @MIA, NYJ, @BUF
Jackson injured his knee at the very beginning of the game and never returned. This “goose egg” is solely due to injury, but I wanted to include it in the article because those who didn’t watch the game wouldn’t understand the important context here. Jackson has been pretty good in Ekeler’s injury absence. We still don’t know when Ekeler will return, which will diminish Jackon’s role. Kalen Ballage filled in for Jackson this weekend and was very productive. Those familiar with Ballage know that he’s been pretty bad in the past. Jackson should return to RB2 form once he returns, although he could easily become irrelevant for fantasy once Ekeler returns.
