Biggest Studs
Jalen Hurts (QB | Eagles)
Week 15 @ ARI: 24 completions for 338 yards & 3 TD | 11 rushes for 63 yds & 1 TD
Fantasy Playoffs: @DAL
Hurts has 169 rushing yards, 505 passing yards, and 5 total touchdowns over the last two weeks. He seems like a league winner, and he has a plus matchup this upcoming weekend in Dallas. At the macro level, the important takeaway here is that stud quarterbacks pop up throughout the season (i.e. Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Tannehill). Although the big focus for those still alive in fantasy is the Championship Weekend (Week 16), now is the time to take notes that can help you next year. The late-round QB model can land you an elite fantasy QB at your fantasy draft, but it also opens up opportunities to pick up elite fantasy QB’s throughout the season. For example, I drafted Joe Burrow as my one-and-only starting quarterback in my main keeper league. I eventually picked up Justin Herbert and then recently grabbed Jalen Hurts. It’s important to acknowledge the value in being flexible with your roster spots, and fantasy GM’s tend to be “pot-committed” to QB’s that are drafted early (i.e. first 8 rounds).
David Montgomery (RB | Bears)
Week 15 @ MIN: 32 rushes for 146 yards & 2 TD | 1 reception on 1 target for 16 yards
Fantasy Playoffs: @JAX
Montgomery has been a sneaky fantasy MVP of late. He and Derrick Henry are the only running backs with 20+ fantasy games in each of the last two weeks. For reference, there were only six total running backs last season that had 20+ fantasy points TWICE from Weeks 14-16. Montgomery has been sneaky productive all season, but he’s not sexy. That being said, David Mopportunity is looking like a legit league winner.
D’Andre Swift (RB | Lions)
Week 15 @ TEN: 15 rushes for 67 tards & 2TD | 4 receptions on 5 targets for 16 yards | 1 Fum
Fantasy Playoffs: TB
Swift has seven games with 10+ touches this season. His production in those games: 89 total yds/gm and 1 TD/gm for 16.6 fantasy points per game. That’s the equivalent RB7 on the season (points-per-game basis). Not only does Swift carry a safe floor, but he also produces at elite levels when given the opportunity. In games where he has 17+ touches, he averages 23 fantasy points per game, which is Dalvin Cook’s average on the season. Swift is a league winner.
Biggest Stinkers
Davante Adams (WR | GB)
Week 15 vs CAR: 7 receptions on 10 targets for 42 yards
Fantasy Playoffs: TEN
Davante Adams has been arguably the most valuable fantasy player this season. Or at least a top-5 option across all positions. However, he disappointed fantasy GM’s this weekend. Hey, don’t blame the player..blame the game. Every NFL player has down weeks in fantasy. He remains a must-start for those who are fortunate to advance to the fantasy championship in Week 16.
Countless other fantasy players
Week 15 was brutal in fantasy. Pour one out for the fantasy gods.
